i listened to an argument today against prop 19 in california....

if prop 19 passes, everyone will be allowed to grow marijuana, no way to tax it and now the regulations (medicinal in cali) that allow a tax from sales will vanish and the state will lose lots of money and stuffs....

o'rly?

we can make beer (i'll leave out wine as that is more complicated) in our houses and that hasn't stopped micro brews from popping up.....in fact, about 8 years ago it almost became a huge deal to make your own brew....while fun....it takes work and money

prop 19 is not going to suddenly make everyone a home grower of marijuana...hell...we can all grow our own tomatoes, year round with a greenhouse, if want....

paaaleeezze....stop with the arguments that legalizing it will decrease profits because everyone will make it in their own home.....it didn't happen after prohibition ended and its not going to happen now....have you guys been to a wholefoods lately.....mac and cheese prepared by wholefoods is $9 a pound....yeah...they sell out everyday

think about it

Nixon Tapes Reveal Twisted Roots Of Marijuana Prohibition

White House Conversations Reveal Prejudices, Culture War Behind Nixon's Drug War

Highlights of Nixon comments on marijuana:

* Jews and marijuana: "I see another thing in the news summary this morning about it. That's a funny thing, every one of the bastards that are out for legalizing marijuana is Jewish. What the Christ is the matter with the Jews, Bob, what is the matter with them? I suppose it's because most of them are psychiatrists . . ."

* Marijuana and the culture wars: "You see, homosexuality, dope, immorality in general. These are the enemies of strong societies. That's why the Communists and the left-wingers are pushing the stuff, they're trying to destroy us."

* Marijuana compared to alcohol: marijuana consumers smoke "to get high" while "a person drinks to have fun." Nixon also saw marijuana leading to loss of motivation and discipline but claimed: "At least with liquor I don't lose motivation."

* Marijuana and political dissent: ". . . radical demonstrators that were here . . . two weeks ago . . . They're all on drugs, virtually all."

* Drug education: "Enforce the law, you’ve got to scare them."

That chart is why the republicans wanted to privatize prisons, a shit load of money in it.

Imagine a country where corporations make money off of keeping people in jail.

Whats funny about Prop. 19, no big democrat politicians or the state democratic party has endorsed it. You would think those liberals would be for it, but not one has got on the bandwagon to support it. Guess they like jails full of minorities arrested for smoking weed.
