You don't have to "interpret" it at all.. Just read what it says.
Genesis 9:20-27 King James Version (KJV)
20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
obviously some rigorous interpretation has been applied.......neither slavery or race is mentioned.......
Really?
Biblical Reasons
• Abraham, the “father of faith,” and all the patriarchs held slaves without God’s disapproval (Gen. 21:9–10).
• Canaan, Ham’s son, was made a slave to his brothers (Gen. 9:24–27).
• The Ten Commandments mention slavery twice, showing God’s implicit acceptance of it (Ex. 20:10, 17).
• Slavery was widespread throughout the Roman world, and yet Jesus never spoke against it.
• The apostle Paul specifically commanded slaves to obey their masters (Eph. 6:5–8).
• Paul returned a runaway slave, Philemon, to his master (Philem. 12).
your anti-Christian bigotry is terribly sad.....15 Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back forever— 16 no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord.
Lots of justifications for heinous acts among Christians.. Like the thousands of witch burnings or even Gott Mit Un in Nazi Germany.
You have really poor reading skills.
The so-called curse of Ham was actually on Ham's son Canaan and not on Ham himself.
and he was racially prejudiced against his brother?........by the way a servant isn't actually a slave......
Really? The Christians in America got it wrong for nearly 400 years.
can you cite the verse that says that.....or did some anti-god theologian just make it up?.....According to Genesis the four sons of Noah represent different people and Ham or Cham was black.
there are also assumptions
no......it was the anti-god slave owners that had it wrong.......
can you cite the verse that says that.....or did some anti-god theologian just make it up?.....
sort of summarizes all you posts...
Japath was supposed to be the father of Europeans and Shem was the father of the Hebrews and Arabs. What church were you raised in that you don't know your Bible?
can you cite the verse that says that..
slavery was the birthchild of god-deniers.....

How Christian Slaveholders Used the Bible to Justify Slavery
Back up your bullshit.
does slavery predate Christianity?......
Yep. First recorded instances of slavery were by religious people in Egypt and Mesopotamia. They were not god-deniers, as you claim. It just wasn't your god. I imagine there was slavery even before recorded history...since the dawn of man, and those numbskulls were probably religious too.
You'd do well to realize your religion wasn't the first or most important, but just another in a long line of bullshit throughout the history of man.
There's one God. Denying him is denying God. Polythism of the ancient Egyptians is the equivalent of modern atheism. You worship created things, including yourself.
