That will be determined largely by the next presidential election. A popular presidential candidate will pick up seats for his party in Congress. Two years later fewer people vote and those members swept into power on the president's coattails are defeated.

That pattern has been declining because incumbency is less an advantage today and more districts are safe for one party and less likely to change. That means the winning presidential candidate picks up fewer seats for his party in Congress and there are fewer to lose in the first midterm.

No, gerrymandering is less important today because demographic changes (sorting) have put similar people together. Entire counties are heavily Republican and there are not enough Democrats to influence these districts. You would have to do some serious gerrymandering to include Democrats in the larger cities with the more rural Republican areas and that is contrary to the "communities of interest" guideline for redistricting.

they re-drew districts again and I did not get to vote against that disgusting cunt Abigale Spamburger !

and I'm confident she would greatly prefer to have her old district back since she had to resort to Liz Cheney to revive her DOA campaign.
