I think it might be wiser to wait until fission technology has developed to a point where it doesn't produce waste (or would, over a very long period, produce much less waste than we currently have) before making massive investments into building them. If we build with current technology, we're stuck with that technology for decades.

If global warming is a lie does that mean that we shouldn't try to establish an economy based on renewable energy. Their is only so much oil and coal in the world. If more energy comes from the sun, wind, heat wouldn't that allow global reserves to last much longer. C02 causes acid rain. It also polutes the ocean. Global warming denists just try to stop progress. The world needs to to renewable energy. Once an efficent electric car is developed then America and europe will no longer be so dependent on foreign oil. If the middle east is forced to sell less oil, then people in the middle east will have to preform budget cuts. Terrorist spending will be cut. If terrorist don't have any money they can't launch any attacks. Electric cars need to get charged. Why shouldn't that energy come from renewable sources. Wind farms, solar farms, and geothermal plants are the way to go. Nuclear energy needs to replace coal because its cleaner and more efficent. People need to be encouraged to put solar panals on their houses, buisnesses and factories. All power from the day should come from the sun.

The government doesn't need to interfere in people's lives to create renewable energy. The Republican party needs to take up renewable energy to protect people from left wing extremists. Republicans need to work with moderate democrates to create energy security in the U.S.

The government could end all taxes on renewable energy. No sales taxes on solar panals or wind turbines. Not income taxe on money earned from selling renewable technology. No taxes on money earned from setting up solar panals on peoples houses, buisness, factories. Biofuels should have lower sales taxes depending on how pure they are. NO sales taxes on 100 percent biofuel. Their should be no sales taxes on cars that get 30 miles to the gallon and no income tax from selling such vehicles. Fuel efficent trucks should also have no taxes.
The government gives subsidies to oil companies. More money is given to oil companies then to companies then to renewable energy companies. If you look at how much money the world gives to subsize renewable energy companies its nothing compared to how much is given to subsidize oil companies. Coal mines are also given government subsidies.

Im for ending all subsidies, but we should just stop sculpting behavior through tax code all together.

It takes years for new oil/ coal to be created. Demand from third world countries is greatly increasing. People throughout China, India, and Africa are buying cars and consuming energy. If America consumes less coal/ oil then we could export more of are own energy reserves. We need to establish a favorable balance of trade when it comes to energy. The world does not replinsh oil/coal as fast as the world can consume. China and India's economic growth is causing more fossil fuels to be consumed. In the past it was just Europe and America that consumed all the fossil fuels. Now China consumes more fossil fuels then America. India with its large and growing population will eventually consume more fossil fuels then America. Africa will one day to consume more fossil fuels then America. South American consumption is also on the rise. Developing countries are consuming more energy this will eventually cause the price of fossil fuels to go really high unless america and europe turn to renewable energy and electric cars.

Nuclear energy is essential for countries to turn away from fossil fuels. America doesn't trust most third world countries. Third world countries will use coal energy because nuclear energy caries the inheriant risk of economic sanctions. Renewable energy requires massive investments and third world countries just don't have the money. Solar farms, wind farms, goethermal require a large initial investment but very little operating coast. Third World countries could easily establish more hydropower. Nuclear plants would be needed to power large numbers of electric cars. The path to renewable energy is slow and can't easily be done in the third world. First world countries have more capital, scientists, technology, and industrial capability to create a green economy. Developed countries also consume a lot more fossil fuels then developing ones.
Oil companies stand in the way of progress. They would lose billions if America were to become energy secure.

Why should Americans want to keep using fossil fuels when their are alternatives. Nuclear energy is far supperior to coal. It requires a small amount of uranium to get the same amount of energy as several tons of coal. Nuclear Power is efficient and clean. If an electric car is just as good as one powered by oil wouldn't most Americans want the electric car. The majority of coal power plants could be replaced by nuclear ones. Geothermal energy is also a good source of energy and doesn't require raw materials to keep it running.
