Well considering that there are persistent rumors that there are 20,000 Polish in Ukrainian uniform maybe more than one European as well....
Sad but true.
I was listening to someone the other day saying that the Russians have a deep affinity for the Ukrainian people, that they are heartbroken over what has come to pass, but the Americans demanded it and the Ukrainians were stupid enough to be lap dogs for the failing Americans...something like that..
What I find so sad is that had the U.S. not helped instigate a coup of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych back in 2014, none of this would have happened. I think that future historians will place a lot of the blame for this conflict on the interests of American elites, to the detriment of everyone else.
I am not sure that the word "helped" belong here....reality was more along the lines of "did".
Most of the world has decided that America was wrong....a lot of the world has decided that it is time for American power to be cancelled.
Every legislator got an offer from the war machine that they couldn't refuse and will get in line for perpetual war. That's what empires do.
Biden has worked to prolong the war. Where is the air support fot Ukraine. Where is our nave firing tomahawks from our ships. We could do many things without boots on the ground. Biden is useless as commander in chief.. Biden is not a leader he follows what other Nato countries do first

The sad fact is that they have no idea what they are doing, they are insane, and they are getting America clobbered by the Chinese and their friends.

Summarizing them here: Two Georgian snipers say Saakashvili hired them in Tblisi for a U.S.-backed operation. But they know only about the “Georgian Legion” part. They think it was patterned on Georgia’s Rose Revolution. They each got $1000 for the operation and flew to Kiev on 15 January and were promised $5000 on return. (9:00) “We had to provoke the ‘Berkut’ police so they would attack the people. By February 15th the situation [at the Maidan] was getting worse every day. Then the first shots were fired.” It was February 15 or 16. Mamunashvili [Saakashvili’s man] introduced them to “an American military guy, … Brian Christopher Boyenger” a former “sniper for the 101st Airborne Division” who “after Maidan he went to Donbass” to fight in the “Georgian Legion” but during the coup-climax, the far-right Andriy “Parubiy came very often,” and “Brian always accompanied him” and also instructing there was Vladimir Parasyuk, one of the leaders of the Maidan.

The Russian economy is not booming. Putin is proud of how much economic suffering they can take and not overthrow him, but that is not booming. The people are not happy. Refugees are streaming out. America is sacrificing nothing compared to Russia.
Agreed. Only it looks like the gravy train will be ending soon. It will become increasingly difficult to continue to pad the pockets of the military industrial complex now that it's becoming evidently clear that Ukraine is going to lose this war, and soon.
We keep hearing that the Russians will soon be winning the war, any day now. It has been a year and a half, and no sign that day will come, especially not soon.
Russia's only real hope for victory is if they can hold out for long enough for trump can become president. If that does not happen ini 2024, they will be forced to make a deal.

Hawkeye is willing to believe any "rumor" that Putin claims. Wouldn't someone notice Polish troops fighting and dying in Ukraine? Their families would notice, and Poland is now an EU country, so the rest of the world would be informed.

Putin does not even believe the Ukrainian People exist. He thinks any people who claim the Ukrainian People exist should be executed as traitors to the Russian People. This is as far from "deep affinity" as possible.
