Republican presidential debate thread

she clearly understood foreign policy better than the others.......which is what you would expect from someone who was our representative at the UN....which reminds me

.....have we seen ANYTHING in the news about Linda Thomas-Greenfield the last three years?.....
Agreed on Nikki.

Yes, but because she's black, Fox News, and, therefore, Trumpers, don't give a shit about her.

New UN president, a Baker native, wants to take action against Russia
Baker native Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, took over as president of the U.N. Security Council Tuesday and criticized Russia for threatening the food supplies for many of the 700 million people in the world who already are starving.

Thomas-Greenfield said her first priority as president would be to address the “conflict-induced famine” playing out in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine, which is one of the world’s major producers of wheat and other grains.

“President Putin’s forces have weaponized food. Russia has launched a full-scale assault on the world’s breadbasket and it is dead-set on depriving the world of Ukraine’s grains,” Greenfield-Thomas said during a Tuesday press conference after being installed as head of the Security Council.

Top United Nations leadership congratulated India on the success of its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3, describing it as a "giant step" for humanity and a "great achievement".

India's Chandrayaan-3 became the first space mission to land near the south pole of the Moon. The attempt comes days after Russia's unmanned Luna-25 spacecraft spun out of control and crashed into the Moon....

...In response to a question by PTI, she said Indian colleagues within the Office of the President of the General Assembly were celebrating this remarkable achievement.

U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield tweeted "Congratulations to @IndiaUNNewYork and the people of India for @ISRO Chandrayaan-3’s historic moon landing. Look forward to further deepening U.S.-India space cooperation – including our work together at the @UN and beyond – as new frontiers continue to be explored.”

US supportive of Saudis appointing envoy to Palestinians
Addressing the monthly Security Council session on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield acknowledges Saudi Arabia’s recent appointment of a non-resident consul general in Jerusalem.

The appointment was seen as part of a concerted effort by Riyadh to deepen its engagement with the Palestinians as it engages in talks with the Biden administration about a potential normalization deal with Israel.

Getting yourself into the news is important for a UN ambassador? (Unless you plan to run for president.)

so basically you think the UN is irrelevant and the appointment of a US representative there serves no legitmate purpose?......or do you just think the US should simply just follow the UN instead of speak out?....

Neither, I just asked you a question that was too uncomfortable for you to answer. (As usual)

I would never have voted for any of those three.

of course you wouldn't.....but you were happy they were the Republican nominees challenging the people you WOULD vote for....shucks, McCain was proud of the fact he didn't respond to the lies you idiots told about him.....

They (wrongly) believed in the intelligence of the Republican voter.

I thought I did answer......let me make myself clearer.....only a fucking idiot would think our UN representative should not be saying anything worth reporting in the news.......

They (wrongly) believed in the intelligence of the Republican voter.

and you, wrongfully, think you should lie about our candidates and they should shut up and take it.......that's what triggered you about Trump......he treated you the same way you treated Republicans....and he's better at it than you are.....

They (wrongly) believed in the intelligence of the Republican voter.

A slight disagreement; based upon the large amount of red meat being tossed to the audience and Trump voters, I believe they all understood exactly the level of intelligence and education of most Republican voters.

A main point was illegal immigrants. Not a single one of them mentioned immigration reform to my recollection, but all addressed "secure our Southern border" and "the Wall". All tried to make points with Trumper bigots on the issue ranging from the "secure our border" line to "send them all back".

Another was the "weaponization of the DOJ" conspiracy theory.

CNN and MSNBC did not carry the Republican debate live. MSNBC carried a few minutes after the debate, delayed at 11;00 PM EST after most people have gone to bed.

It appears that CNN did not carry the debate at all, just an interview after the actual debate.

Why are they censoring the Republican debates? They are afraid that the truth about the corrupt Biden crime family will be exposed.

FOX carried the debate live.
It's all CNN is talking about this morning. Only a demented, oath-breaking idiot thinks it's censorship.

I like Ramaswamy!

Well he was the one who looks the most like a Trump clone- without all the baggage Donald Trump and DeSantis have!

For the people that were looking for that- SWAMPI won!

And, I have to defend him for standing up to the other candidates who were calling him a rookie.

An intelligent rookie like him with the right advisors, and good experienced cabinet members, particularly a good Chief-of-Staff could handle the office just fine.

Everybody has to start somewhere!

It was not a public event that the news all had the right to cover.
It was the Fox network's own production.
Earl is a complete idiot.

I suppose, using Earl's "logic," that Showtime should have been allowed to broadcast The Sopranos
so more people could watch it.

Agreed. He's one of JPP's top TDS'ers. Worse, he's an oathbreaker just like his dear leader, Donald J. Trump.

So much of a clone, he looks like part of Trump's ass.

The Dakota guy talks about having small town values in his TV ads.

Does this mean that urban sophisticates should not consider him

as he's likely hostile to our values?

What the hell are "small town values" anyway?

Butting into your neighbor's business?

I'd probably go postal [to use a dying expression] living in that kind of environment.

It's red meat for the MAGAts.

The Booos at the debate were very interesting since it shows the emotional state of most MAGAts.

Trump Indictment Question Draws Boos at Fox News Debate
question on whether his rivals would support former President Donald Trump if he's convicted of a crime elicited boos from the crowd at the first Republican primary debate of the 2024 election cycle, in the battleground state of Wisconsin.

Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, who moderated the debate at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, asked the eight GOP contenders on stage about Trump's mounting legal woes and whether they would pledge their support to him if he's the GOP's nominee. The question about Trump, who is facing four separate indictments, appeared to rile up the audience....

...Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum all raised their hands right away.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence hesitated but ultimately raised their hands while former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson did not raise his hand at all, despite the RNC pledge. When asked to explain why, he said, "because there's an important issue we as a party need to face."

Hutchinson has said previously that Trump should be disqualified over his actions in the January 6, 2021, siege on the U.S. Capitol. Hutchinson said he will not support a candidate convicted of a felony.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a vocal Trump critic, appeared to raise his hand while shaking his head no but clarified that he was making a hand gesture.

When asked by Baier if he was "late to the game" in raising his hand, Christie said, "no, I'm doing this," and shook his finger before saying that "someone's got to stop normalizing this conduct."

The former governor's response provoked more boos from the crowd, partially drowning out his answer.
