Republicans, if you don't want the government playing a larger role in basic needs

Much of your post has nothing to do with my post. But anyway.

What you are failing to see is when a few individuals choose to contribute more there is no change in the market so no raise in prices. But when you raise the taxes on all of that group you have created an artificial change in the market.

As for what taxes are used for. Yes I know. Where we different is our opinion of what the government should or should not be spending money on.

There is no 'market' by increasing taxes on the rich. If they get one less mansion, one less private jet, if they own $8 billion in stocks instead of $10 billion, that doesn't change the price of your ice cream.

The market actually works the opposite - by shifting money away from the idle rich to the consumers, you stimulate the economy and create more prosperity, more jobs, higher wages in a cycle of prosperity. Not the right-wing myths.

Im afraid that you are mistaken. The cost of production is passed on. Not eaten by the producer.

I'm not talking about trickle down. That is not what I suggest as a solution.

You're just wrong in your first point. Prices are not set by costs. Economics 101.

But I am not accusing you of suggesting trickle down here, don't worry about that.

And that is even more true in this time of the rich making more than ever before when they don't know what to do with all the wealth.

You really need to learn more about how these things actually work. And when I say you, you and millions of others who are buying into myths that are resulting in plutocracy and poverty for the American people.

Costs are not the only factor but they are a factor.

You are correct that the disparity is very large right now. But it is not because of taxes being too low on the top earners. There are many things that factor into it. I however do not have the desire to dive into all of them with you.

Instead I'll ask why we shouldn't simply reign back the government to their intended purposes only. See I'm not a fan of taking from one person to give to another. I am also not a fan of relying on an in effeciently government trying to fix problems they created. The problem is that both parties have no reason to stick to their intended purposes. Both push for more control. Just over different thing . Neither are good for those at the bottom.
