Four GOP candidates—Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry—took part in a “tele-town hall” sponsored by Personhood USA, which was broadcast on the radio program of Steve Deace, an influential Iowa evangelical.

The event demonstrated that a commitment to banning all abortion, even in cases of rape, incest, and threats to a woman’s health, is now the normative position among the party.

Each of the candidates, who spoke separately and took a couple of questions each, took the same hard-line position.

The differences were on the margins.

Bachmann distinguished herself with her dishonesty, claiming at one point that Obama is “putting abortion pills for young minors, girls as young as 8 years of age or 11 years of age, on the bubblegum aisle.”

Obama, of course, overrode an FDA recommendation to make emergency contraception available over the counter for all ages, infuriating women’s-health activists.

I say just have the rapist's baby. Put her/him up for adoption, and get back to school, after that. So maybe you lose a semester of school. Is it to much to ask to give a newborn a chance to live and to be adopted into a loving family?

Apparently not, if you value a fetus more than a young woman.

Ok guys, I'm for abortion and all but really, how many rape babies are out there that the women want aborted? It seems to be a rather specific scenario that gets advertised as the norm.

How many would be acceptable to you? Some conservatives want 100% of rapists' fetuses forcibly carried to term.

Ignoring the question.

If you'd read the first bit you'd know, that I'm in favor of abortion, however I'm also in favor of intellectually honest arguments. So make one.

so what you're saying is you'd be willing to put your name on a list of people who agree with forced birth and when a child is born from incest or rape and you're name is at the top of the list you get one. I think that's really humane of you.

"I say just have the rapist's baby".
Easy for you to say... what an idiot.

Yours seems to be forcing rape victims to bear their rapist's child. Is that right?

If someone believes that a life is created at conception, then that life is valued as much as any other. If those same people were willing to allow abortions for rape victims, then they would be hypocrites. They are being consistent with their beliefs. If you believe the fetus is a child from the moment of conception, as many pro-lifers do, then allowing the fetus created by a rape to be aborted would be killing an innocent child for a crime it had nothing to do with.

I will give them a bit of respect for standing firm on their beliefs.

Ok this seems to be impossible for you to get so I'm going to have to put this in bold.

I am in favor of Abortion especially for people who can't read the whole sentence.

But you're not in favor of abortion when a rape victim is impregnated by a rapist?

I don't think you're reading what I'm writing. I'm in favor of abortion.

Not because of the .0000002% of them that may be rape babies, but because I don't think a fetus is a person and because I think it's a matter of choice. Using the rape baby argument takes away from the true issue at hand and leads to laws that read "one may get an abortion but only if you've been raped" which cause stupid problems of their own.

What respect are you showing the rape victim, forced to bear her rapist's child?

I didn't mention respect for the victim, one way or the other. I only discussed the consistency of the pro-lifer's argument.

You gave "a bit of respect" to people who would force a woman to bear the child of her rapist, in fact.

You gave the victim none, did you?

I did not discuss the victim at all. Nor did I discuss the rapist. Nor did I discuss the members of the Peruvian soccer team. By my not discussing any of them, am I withholding respect? Or did I simply mention the consistency of the beliefs of the pro-lifers gets a bit of respect, and you have tried to make an issue of what I did not say?
