Republicans love their thought-terminating clichés

Another litany of Leftist thought terminating words / cliches:

You are a--

Racist
Sexist
Homophobe
Xenophobe
Islamophobe
Hater
Bigot
Fascist
Authoritarian
Dictator
MAGA or MAGAT
Why are basic political terms like "fascist" beyond your comprehension? Didn't you study history in high school?

Sure, I agree with General Milley, that Trump is fascist to the core.

But, to prove to you that that is not a TTC, i always provide substantiation for my claim, if asked.

Critical terms, per se, do not equal thought-terminating, especially if they demand substantiation.

The operative concept is, 'does this comment/phrase invite further discussion, or is it trying to kill the conversation?

could be, depends on context. but thing about TDS, it's almost always attempting to kill the conversation.

Clearly, you do not understand what a TTC is.

Misinformation/disinformation, are regular dictionary words, and unlike 'fake news' or 'TDS' these words do not curb critical thinking, nor curb dissent, they invite more discussion, and are often accompanied with substantiation.

TDS, however, is always used to try and kill the conversation, whereby the user no longer feels the need to have to continue the conversation. Why/ Because it's TDS. Since the perceived/alleged perp has this 'condition', he or he is not rational. That's why it is a TTC.

' Do you see the difference? "Russian' is an adjective. Sorry. You are conflating common terms, ordinary cliches, with 'thought-terminating cliches', they are not the same. The operative standard is this: "Does this forward discourse? Or is it trying to end it. Misinformation will always invite discussion. If not offered, just ask for substantiation.
Not when used to end discussion they aren't. When that happens, they are thought terminating. As in:

That's about as thought terminating as it can get.

With "Russian" it is attached to something else. Russian disinformation. Russian collusion. Russian election interference. It has become a pronoun of the Left to be used to emphasis that the discussion is over.

You're so stupid you don't realized TRUMP coined the term "Russian collusion."

All of those terms invite substantiation, and by that measure, do not:

1. Curb dissent.
2. Curb critical thinking.

MAGA could be used as a TTC, though it's hardly been hijacked by the left (though it tries), as the right wears it like a badge of honor.

'Wannabe dictator' might be a TTC, depending on context, whether it's user invites more discussion, is willing to substantiate. I think there's a good argument that it is a TTC.

I've never seen any lefty call anyone a homophobe, unless there was evidence for it. I would call Trump a misogynist, and if someone asks me for substantiation, I would offer it, so that can't be a TTC (though you didn't mention it, but I'm sure you would have, had you thought of it).

THere is evidence of Trump's racism, but it invites more substantiation, and it's debatable. Not eveyrone who uses racist terms, per se, is actually a full blown racist, as in a member of the KKK. That's why that isn't a TTC, using the term still forwards a debate, forwards the discourse.

"Hater', that is used like a TTC, but by both sides.

Xenophobe, a term attributed to Trump given his apparent hatred of immigrants, is it a TTC? I think it is a legit characterization, and, if anyone asks for substantiation, most lefties will provide it, so I'm not seeing that as a TTC. In Trump's defense, he could be a xenophobe towards the large body of people, but not necessarily to individuals, especially those he might know, personally, but that is a point of contention, an item for more discussion, and so it, per se, isn't a TTC.
They are all intended to shut the opposition up by insulting them in a way that puts them on the defensive. By claiming someone is something on that list, the user intends that their opponent will shut up or spend all of their time trying to defend themselves rather than continue with the discussion. Those are definitely thought terminating.

You're so stupid you don't realized TRUMP coined the term "Russian collusion."
Bullshit. It has its origins in the Hildabeast's paying for the Steele Dossier. That's the original source. Hillary Clinton paid operatives to produce a damning document to smear Trump with. From there, Russian collusion / disinformation has been a staple of the Left.

Misinformation / disinformation

Ahhh, so if someone finds evidence that a claim (like "they're eating the cats") is FALSE and it is continuing to be spread by someone (guess who) then it is WRONG to point that out as misinformation?

"I thought the deal was we weren't gonna fact check tonight"

Russian (fill in the blank)

Fair enough on that one. Except that Trump was found to have sent a bunch of COVID testing machines to Vlad for his personal use while Americans were unable to get tests. And Trump openly stated clearly that he trusted Vladimir Putin over US intelligence agencies (at Finland news conference). And Trump continually calls Putin "smart" and respects his leadership. And his own son noted how much the Trump business empire owed to Russian investors (a lot).

But other than that I can't think of any real reason Trump would have any association with Russia.

Listen you fucking moron, the Trump administration's DOJ initiated the connection to Russia. You're a fucking idiot.

Reductio ad absurdum fallacy. You are taking one specific case to try and invalidate the point. Clearly, the Left uses the terms "disinformation" and "misinformation" to smear and end discussion on anything they disagree with. I gave the example of the extremist version in the government "disinformation board."

Again, you are using the reductio ad absurdum fallacy. Rather than find a single case, which I don't buy to begin with, find where it is the general case.

Reductio ad absurdum fallacy.

Pro Tip: you might wanna look that one up. I don't think means what you think it means.

You are taking one specific case to try and invalidate the point.

That is not a reductio.

Not really.

Again, you are using the reductio ad absurdum fallacy. Rather than find a single case, which I don't buy to begin with, find where it is the general case.

You really need to buy a logic book.

Republicans love their TTC's.

What is a thought-terminating cliche?

Demagogues use them a lot, to manipulate their flock.

They are designed to curb, limit critical thinking and curb dissent, and if possible, kill both entirely.

You see, Demagogues like Trump don't like it when his flock thinks critically, because if they do, they will soon figure out that he is a con man, a criminal, a fraudster and sex abuser, since the hard data and facts point inescapably to these conclusions. But a mind full of TTCs will fog the landscape, make them much harder to see.

The second purpose is to curb dissent, and no one hates dissent more than demagogues like Trump.

The really big TTC is 'TDS', Trump Derangement Syndrome'. That's a real beaut, 'tis true.

But the meaning the right has concocted and ascribed to it, well, that's not true at all. As we shall see.

TDS, which is thought-terminating cliche accepted into the minds of many Trumpsters (by Trump, or his surrogates) for the purpose of curbing critical thought and killing dissent.

Oh, and you thought it was a real condition. Tsk tsk.

You see, Repubs, because real conditions do not exist only in the minds of one side of a political spectrum, they are listed in medical reference books and conditions do not behave politically, they can strike anyone. That is to say, if it was, indeed, a real condition and not an arbitrary construct created by a political party or the party's demagogue leader in order to manipulate followers to do the leader's bidding.

The truth is, it was concocted so that Trumpsters (meaning, fans of Trump) could end the conversation without feeling guilty for not engaging in a real debate. A fate which comports to the purpose of a TTC, described above. So, a (an occasional, but not every) MAGA type might say: "Ahh, that's 'TDS' I don't have to bother debating it nor feel guilty about it". It's a nice, cute, quaint, lazy retort. And that is precisely Trump's objective with TTC's such as this one. Others, see below..

Proof of all of this will be clearly revealed in Republicans' response to this comment.

Fire away!

Here's a list of typical Republican thought-terminating cliches:

  • "TDS" (Trump Derangement Syndrome) – This is often used to dismiss any criticism of Donald Trump by framing the critic as irrational or obsessed, rather than engaging with the substance of the criticism.
  • "Fake news" – Popularized by Trump, this phrase is used to discredit media outlets or stories that don't align with their views, bypassing any critical evaluation of the information itself.
  • "RINO" (Republican in Name Only) – This label is used to delegitimize Republicans who are seen as not conservative enough or who criticize party leadership, especially Trump, shutting down any intra-party dissent.
  • "Socialist" or "Marxist" – Used to quickly label Democratic policies or progressive ideas, framing them as radical or extreme without addressing the specific merits or drawbacks of the policies themselves.
  • "Snowflake" – A term used to dismiss individuals who express sensitivity to issues of social justice or inequality, implying that their concerns are trivial or overblown.
  • "Woke" – This has become a blanket term for dismissing progressive values or discussions about social justice, often used to end debates by implying those views are irrational or excessive.
  • "Deep state" – A way to dismiss government institutions or officials who may disagree with certain Republican policies by suggesting they are part of a hidden, malevolent force working against the people's interests.
  • "Cancel culture" – Used to deflect accountability for offensive or controversial behavior, framing any backlash or criticism as unjustified suppression of free speech rather than engagement with the consequences of one's actions.
You people seem to really believe you're invisible if you close your eyes don't you? You realize don't you that the rest of us can actually see how you infected pigs behave, right? Its like you maggots want to create this perfect image of yourselves which everyone, except you idiots.apparently, knows is nothing but bullshit.

all these things are real facts.

or "the future is female"...

Actually, it is. You try to make a specific example into the general case reducing the general case to that specific example.

Actually, it is. You try to make a specific example into the general case reducing the general case to that specific example.

Nope.

Here's the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy: "Reductio ad absurdum is a mode of argumentation that seeks to establish a contention by deriving an absurdity from its denial, thus arguing that a thesis must be accepted because its rejection would be untenable."

Here are some helpful examples for you: https://helpfulprofessor.com/reductio-ad-absurdum-examples/

I have a problem with the term "Trumpster"
because it does not clearly express the undeniable fact
that such an entity is a devolved mutant not capable of human level thought function.

My preferred term, "trumpanzee," seems to me far more appropriate for the disciples
of a pigfucking orangutan. It's provides a more telling glimpse of that with which we're dealing.

You're a Biden level moron.
Ah yes, 'Biden-level moron,' how quaint, you must have had help with that one, a phrase born of the same intellectual rigor that brings us gems like injecting disinfectant, brilliant!. But let’s talk facts: while you're busy crafting playground insults, Biden’s out here steering the country through crises, passing landmark legislation, and restoring alliances that were on life support. And by the way, there are over 60,000 infrastructure projects going on as we speak -- something Trump, with four years of lip service to 'Infrastructure Week,' couldn't get done, even with the House and Senate under his thumb. Biden, on the other hand, got a bipartisan infrastructure bill passed in his first 300 days. So if being a 'moron' means fixing a pandemic response, spearheading record job growth, and delivering the largest infrastructure investment in a generation, then sign me up. Meanwhile, you can keep flinging your Fox News buzzwords -- I'll stick to reality, where progress actually happens.
