Republicans need Chuck Hagel

I would support an impeachment of the two to "Save America from itself", not to help the republican party, but to help us, the American Citizen. ...their CRIMES were commited against us.

You missed the point Care... Unfortunately we have two major political forces...the Democrats and Republicans.. I dont like it but its a fact of life.. and ever so slightly it provides us with a system of checks and balances.. one acting as the watch dog over the other. This system is critical to America's future .. her integrity.
Do you honestly believe that having Democrats in power in all three branches of Government is good for America? Havent the past 6 years demonstrated how unhealthy a demagoguery is? Do you beieve that having Democrats controlling the House, Senate and Presidency will be any different than Republicans?
I'll reiterate, to save the integrity of the Republican Party, I could tolerate the Dems having this power over the next two years. Beyond that I would want to return to a divided Government..
Democratic extremism towards the left is no better than Republican extremism.
i do prefer a divided government, HOWEVER, every single republican in office, for the last 6 years, walked lock step with this president (with the exception of just a handful), and they were like complete zombies with no mind of their own, spending our money and several generations to come's money along with supporting criminals in their leadership like tom delay, representative ney, duke cunningham and many others without a word opposing them...no ethical reviews...then you top it with their intertwinings with abramoff, and the k street lobbyists and how they HID foley's actions just so they could keep his seat republican....was the cherry on the top...
two years of a republican abstinence IS NOT LONG ENOUGH....for what they have done to us, to America.... there is no republican in office that can be trusted yet other than maybe ron paul....perhaps olympia snow and susan collins.
we can only pray that the dems will not be as corrupt as the republicans holding all branches of gvt have been.... and i don't see how they could be worse... but i don't rule it out.... i am going to give them a shot at it though because the republicans in general do not deserve any position of leadership right now, based on their PROVEN actions.
and also, as long as the senate is ''close'', repubs can still filibuster anything they see as egregious.

Sometimes I think that we'd be a lot better off with a British-style Parliamentary system.

Care.. 70+ percent of the Nation walked lock step with the President. If you read Hagels Interview you will note how he explains his original support for the President... he basically gives his President the benefit of doubt.. nothing wrong with that, I think most of Americans were/are on that same page. We elect a President with high degree of trust.. in this case we were attacked and our emotions ran high.
I agree with much of what you are saying here... and I think most of America does too .... the results of the last election speaks for itself ... and it is very likey that we will elect a Democratic President in 2008. I hope it is the correct one.. which means I hope it is an Energy Aware President ... who is also Solidly Moderate in his/her views. I will have a hard time living with a President who is politically expedient towards the extreme left. Then again...if this does happen we will see a major correction in 2010 .. the House and Senate will move back to the Pubs.
As far as Hagel.. he'll get my support because he matches up perfectly with the way I think... true Fiscal Conservative joins the fray .... one that has moved against this Cluster Fuck of a War ...and one that has a clear outline for transitioning to Alternative Energies..., Has even traveled abroad to re-open the Kyoto Talks... and get America back on track as a leader.
As far as his position on the War.. this is well documented.
I am not just talking about the war's initial vote, I am talking about EVERYTHING..... THEY were zombies on all issues of importance to this country.... they were blinded and followed Bush on ALL.... and refused to do any oversight when it mattered.
Now I give hagel some kudos for speaking out now and what he said was pretty accurate and understandable... and I believe he is the Republican's best candidate for their party, but our country is pretty messed up now because of ALOT of different legislation these republicans shoved through and they still, in my mind, do not deseve any position of power yet....their penance has not been paid yet....imho.

Well..aside from the Tax Cut.. which I support because I am a supply sider ...
there isnt much else that I support this President ... except for investment in hybrid research and Dev. and his support for Africa.
No Child Left Behind was basically bi-partisan no matter how much you deny it...
Pill Bill... a disaster in the making and no true Conservative would or should have supported it... the Dems look good on this one simply because it was Bush's baby..
Kyoto in its present form was not good for America.. where Bush failed was not prolonging negotiations... getting America involved as the leader... most Presidents regardless of political ideology would have forced prolonged talks until America was satisified and would put us in a position to lead rather than be outsiders. Hind Sight is 20/20 ...this was poor judgment.
The big one.. Patriot Act... In the beginning when I supported this War my approach to this was apathetic... I pretty much figured that if this was a real war with potential to evolve into a World War.. then I dont mind giving up a few Civil Liberties that would make us safer. How wrong I was! About everything? Yes... our leaders in Washington betrayed our trust and the Pubs get the major blame because they were the Congressional Leaders.
And then you hav the rest of the scandals that you so often outline.. that remain to be seen.
Not one Democratic Representative voted for the Pill Bill....
That tells you that this pill bill WAS CORRUPT...
It lost when they voted on it because some republicans voted no with the Democrats, BUT the republicans in power kept the vote opened untill 3 am in the morning....for three hours, to twist the arms of the republicans that did not vote for it, and BRIBED some of them to change their vote so that it would pass the House....finally at 3 am, they bribed enough of them to change their vote and it passed by 1 or 2 votes.
THAT was it, THAT was the turning point that made me realize HOW corrupt they were....
I am NOT going to get over this administration and the culture of constant corruption that came with it...for a while Klaatu, for a long while....
This is just one of the corrupt bills they passed in this manner....just one.
There were many more like this and I can go in to it if you would like...
And another thing, ALL OF US like tax breaks if they can be managed within their spending budgets and done for the better of our entire country and NOT JUST WEIGHED HEAVILY toward the wealthiest people in the world...
these tax cuts that Bush and the Republicans passed hurt us and hurt our children and hurt our grandchildren and probably hurt our great grand children because they continued to grow their spending by 30%+ a year, borrowing this money for the tax cuts from China and Saudi Arabia to fund them.....
And this isn't even with the war costs....the 30% increase in spending was just domestically.... mostly the pill bill, but alot of other pork too.

Now, all that being said.... I do admire Hagel for what he has said, and the stance he is taking now, and out of all of the repubs running, I think that he is the best candidate for you.
