Yeah, it was a stupid joke told by a comedian. It is unlikely that the vast majority of folks from Puerto Rico care about the joke, it's a bit like making jokes about trash piles and New Jersey. Folks from New Jersey don't particularly care though they think New Jersey is a great place.
