I'm amused by the premise which claims having an ID is a loss of freedom. So do you have anything beyond "because you say so" to support the claim that vendors are the primary cause of food stamp fraud?

Becoming a dependent ward of the state ALWAYS involves a loss of freedom and a slow erosion of liberties. Just as the ACA dictates how all of us obtain healthcare and what type of healthcare you are forced to carry.

Given everything that does indeed require an ID...

1) Driving
2) Air travel
3) Buying cigarettes
4) Buying alcohol
5) Buying Pot... well, here and in WA anyway
6) Using a credit card <--- this one would be most similar to using the food stamp cards... though it is not always required
7) opening a bank account
8) opening an investment account
9) Getting a job

I think the concern should be more on HOW do we get people an ID who currently do not have them?

How is requiring they provide ID to spend their free money harming their freedoms? Are they not required to show ID and lack of income to apply for this benefit? Or do you think anybody can just walk into their local HHS office and get this benefit based on their word and honor?

If they can find ways to get to the DMV, travel by air, buy tobacco, alcohol and pot with their credit card, which comes from a bank, etc....they
can sure as shit find a way to get an ID....
