Thats quite different.....maybe pinheads should support a sugar tax on people that have diabetes then.....otherwise its plain stupid.

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy. Sometimes your body doesn’t make enough—or any—insulin or doesn’t use insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells.

Obesity can contribute to the risk of diabetes for sure....BUT not all obese people have or will get diabetes, sugar or no sugar.....and sugar itself does not in any way cause

the quantity of sugar in the food supply is only a factor in weight gain...period.

Best Answer: No. In fact most people who are fat never get diabetes. It has a lot more to do with family history and genetics than you might think. Scientists are now looking at the probability that Type II diabetics are over producers of insulin and their body simply can't use what is being made. So , because the insulin which acts like a key in a door, can't open the cell to allow glucose in. Thus the sugar circulates in the blood and builds up until it spills out of the blood into the urine. Because the naturally produced insulin can't make the glucose enter the cells for energy, the Type II diabetic gets hungry trying to supply the energy needs and stores every calorie as fat.

Why do want to argue about by this anyway? Isn't it patently obvious that more people are getting obese than ever before. Diabetes is also rising to epidemic levels, so something is causing it ffs.
