Revisiting Obamacare shows tRump's desperation.

Against the advice of almost everyone, tRump has decided to attack Obamacare in the middle of a global pandemic. In addition, he is doing so with no plan for covering those with pre-existing conditions.

The only conceivable thought process for tRump doing so is to try and re-energize his base. There will certainly be a segment of Mods and Indies that will view this as merely a "cold hearted" move by a "cold hearted" individual.
 
Who the fuck is stupid enough to want to kill the ACA during a pandemic? The ACA helped provide healthcare for 30 million people. Many who have lost insurance due to job loss turned to the ACA. As stupid as taking healthcare from people is, who would be dumb enough to do it in a pandemic with 4 months until the election. Trump mystifies us. Is he throwing the election?"Is that what he will say when he gets creamed. | "I could have won it easy but I didn't want to be prez anymore." It is looking like that.
 
It's the Democrats revisiting Obamacare. They just passed a bill to try and strengthen it, even though it has largely been a costly failure.

Trumps lawyers petitioned the Supreme Court to end the ACA. The ACA has been a great success and it was a start point for a much better medical system. All the countries with universal healthcare are in far better shape than we are in the pandemic.

No, the ACA hasn't. The ACA did nothing for the medical system, it is nothing more than an insurance program. It did raise the cost of policies through the rafters. It drove down competition to near zero and often left those purchasing policies with only second and third tier insurers (eg., poor quality ones) as participants. It didn't really insure more people than before but did expand Medicaid at the cost of an additional state and federal tax burden.

As for the China flu...

Economically, the US hasn't been nearly slammed like many other nations.

The US isn't nearly the worst case nation either if you compare them equally rather than with the bad statistics the US MSM usually uses.

The ACA is more popular now than when Obama was president. It's here to stay.
 
Trump is still trying to do what he promised to do, which almost no one does anymore, because Trump is all awesome like that....

It's sort of like 'Repeal and Replace" with a twist. He has repealed the replacement part of the platform. Now it's just "Repeal." There is no plan to replace with something 'everybody is going to love.'

This is far more likely to hurt him in the polls than help him.

We are talking about medical impact, you linked an article that says we are not as bad as the worst hit economically. (And if that is true it means the ACA is working)

There was virtually no competition prior to the ACA. It was not responsible for the lack of competition. The medical billing system was already rigged.

Your biggest dilemma comes when folks hit you with the tRump "reality" stick. That action directly contradicts with your need for trumpian "hero worship".

Focus son. This has nothing to do with expanding Obamacare. Trump wants it gone. His cult wants it gone. Among the non-brainwashed population, Obamacare is extremely popular. It seems like a bizarre political strategy to ask the Supreme Court to eliminate coverage for millions of people during a pandemic, but hey, I never considered myself a stable genius.

Actually, there was more competition prior to the ACA and for the bulk of people they don't even have an ACA policy or use the program. Only people who are getting individual coverage need go through Obamacare. Even then, about a quarter of the people on it are covered by expanded Medicaid not an individual plan from a provider. As for providers, those have fallen in both quality and number since the program started. In almost all states, the big name, top tier, highest quality health insurers pulled out of Obamacare entirely.

In much of the US, there is just one provider for Obamacare plans. Many of the offered plans are really crappy too with limited networks of providers and poor coverage options.

Obamacare drove down competition and drove up prices. It also didn't provide the claimed idea that everyone would have health coverage. In fact, roughly the same number of people in the US today don't have health insurance as when the program started. Obamacare is a total failure. It is nothing but a bloated, useless, expensive, government bureaucratic disaster.
