In her book, Origins of Totalitarianism, Hannah Arendt lists a number of elements typically found. One is the use of propaganda and misinformation. She also refers to it as “post-truth”. Emotion over facts. She noted that propaganda often competes with science.

The other elements she listed equally applies to the Trump administration.

I guess the COVID body count wasn't high enough for the Moron-in-Chief. He's going for Holocaust-level numbers of dead Americans. If they're children, so much the better. One way or another he's bound to feature yugely in future history books.

One element of totalitarian regimes is propaganda. Misinformation. Disinformation. Those lies often conflict and compete with science. Totalitarianism, especially fascism, look to those who feel left out, left behind, disenfranchised, victimized. That’s why they are easy prey to the propaganda.
