Romney impersonated a police officer

Didn't seem to stop idiots from reporting nonsense about Bush. This is just race baiting. It doesn't even make sense.

Problem with this comment is that Bush did everything he was accused of and more...a fact you are well aware of. Why are you a partisan hack?

They didn't find it important when he ran for governor, eh? It only becomes suddenly something to bring up now? Not when he ran for Senate, nor for Governor?

I think you have to be hacktackularly and purposefully ignorant of his personal history to believe that this would only show up now.

I am confused now, are you saying that it never happened or that it was too inconsequential to worry over?

You have evidence Rather helped make up the "memo"?

I think he reported irresponsibly and knew it. I think the "and Friends" were the ones that made up the memo, and Rather jumped at what he wanted to believe rather than what he knew that he should check. I believe that this one incident has made people seriously question the integrity of those who present their news and will forever mar his career making this one of the first things people think of when they think of Rather.

In one truly incredibly poignant moment Rather destroyed his own legacy. I'll bet he regrets it now.

I am saying that when he was running for those other offices these same people would have brought this up long ago had it actually had any serious legitimacy at all.

Except:
1. No one gives a fuck who governs Mass, they will let anybody run this place.
2. He had zero chance of de-throning Kennedy.
3. As POTUS he could do actual damage.

LOL. He ran for POTUS previously and was one of the contenders.... As I said, you have to be purposefully ignorant of his public past to believe that this is when it suddenly comes out.

This is nonsense. The reality is the story isn't reported because even MSNBC is afraid of "pulling a Rather"... get the evidence, it will be reported and he'll lose any chance of winning the election.

You are being ridiculous. He never made it out of the gate last time. The real digging doesn't start until one IS a contender, not a potential contender.

Damocles where is your evidence that Rather made up that memo?

Or were you lying?

Jarod then posts this:

Against my better judgement I've previously replied your post, quit being such a deliberate hack. What happened to you?

I made a promise to give you the last word on one topic, but I'm leaning towards giving you a miss on every topic.

He clearly reported it irresponsabily, there is no evidence he knew it, so personally I believe equating that withmaking it up himself is way too harsh.

I am sure he regrets it now, he has said as much.

He did mar his reputation and career.

Seems clear enough to me at least, were you happy with all the Swift Boat smears about John Kerry? US presidential elections seem to become nastier and nastier but to my mind there is a pattern of behaviour developing around Romney. What I've gleaned so far is that he is a typically arrogant alpha male with little or no empathy for those less fortunate than himself.

i wasn't sure what you meant. that a pattern of behavior revolving around practical jokes or whatever.

i'm not sure that there is a pattern of behavior like that at all. when i was younger i was different than i am now. it seems to me you're judging romney on allegations of certain behavior that occurred when he was young. do you judge obama on his behavior during the same age? cocaine.....etc....

as to the swift boat, i vaguely recall the controversy. TBO, i wasn't that interested in politics back then. iirc, the stories were found out to be false.

Yes they were found to be false but that didn't help Kerry much though. It's all very well saying that but they effectively scuppered his chances at the presidency. So if you are complaining about Romney being "swiftboated" then you can see where it comes from, it has proved to be a very effective tactic for both sides in the past. At the end of the day, it all boils done to whether the Romney of youth is indicative of the Romney of today, I would suggest that his corporate raider escapades are more of a signpost to his core beliefs.
