Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters

Kristol had a different take, writing, “It’s worth recalling that a good chunk of the 47 percent who don’t pay income taxes are Romney supporters—especially of course seniors…as well as many lower-income Americans (including men and women serving in the military) who think conservative policies are better for the country even if they’re not getting a tax cut under the Romney plan. So Romney seems to have contempt not just for the Democrats who oppose him, but for tens of millions who intend to vote for him.”

No, Social Security pensions are NOT taxable income, they never have been, never will be. You can keep trying to insist this is who Romney was talking about, it's simply a LIE. And again, not all elderly people drawing SS are voting for Obama, so there goes that myth anyway!

They are absolutely taxable Ditzie... at a minimum 50% is included for taxation. Most people get hit on 85% of it.

No, Social Security pensions are NOT taxable income, they never have been, never will be.

Wrong.

I could explain why, but I'll let the IRS give you the bullet points.

IRS Tax Tip 2011-26, February 07, 2011

The Social Security benefits you received in 2010 may be taxable. You should receive a Form SSA-1099 which will show the total amount of your benefits. The information provided on this statement along with the following seven facts from the IRS will help you determine whether or not your benefits are taxable.

  1. How much – if any – of your Social Security benefits are taxable depends on your total income and marital status.
  2. Generally, if Social Security benefits were your only income for 2010, your benefits are not taxable and you probably do not need to file a federal income tax return.
  3. If you received income from other sources, your benefits will not be taxed unless your modified adjusted gross income is more than the base amount for your filing status.
  4. Your taxable benefits and modified adjusted gross income are figured on a worksheet in the Form 1040A or Form 1040 Instruction booklet.

Don't worry, we haven't started taxing talking out your ass yet.

Why does it matter when Romney said it?
Its being released now for maximum political effect, obviously.
Are you saying the Repugs would not sit in something to release for max political effect?

No doubt, but what Romney was saying was not out of line, and what Jimmah Carter's grandson and the hippies at Mother Jones did was attempt to divert attention from the foreign policy failure of Obama in the ME...Fail!

Romney needs to get out there and hammer this message.

Because Romney can't talk foreign policy, he is ignorant when it comes to foreign policy.

Yeah, if you don't count Capital Gains as income tax they don't pay income tax.

In all likelihood they simply had sufficient capital losses to wipe out their tax liability for the year. It's not a matter of not counting capital gains as income.

Good effort though. Maybe another link to Brietbart would help.

Well even if they do their still paying less taxes than I am....and though I consider my self blessed with good fortune and have worked very hard to get where I'm at.....I'm no fucking millionare it's just freaking wrong that investment income is considered more valuable than productive income. It's just damned wrong!

Nobody's really talking about this slice of the pie, but Mitt Romney's "47%" who pay no federal income tax include several thousand of the highest-income households in the country.

The Tax Policy Center estimates that 4,000 households with incomes over $1 million ended up with zero federal income tax liability in 2011.

Another 14,000 made between $500,000 and $1 million.

Impossible. The AMT takes care of that.

ESTIMATE THIS!

No it isn't. Earn some investment income then.

But not all investment income is taxed at 15%

Actually this is good news. My guess is the peanut farmers grandson was going to hold this until the last possible moment but seeing that Maobama was repeating his failed granddaddys middle east policies, he leapt into action. This will be gone in two days

I think you may be on to something there.....I had wondered why they didn't hold this until late October......seeing this new parallel between Obama and Carter may have been the trigger in this boy's mind......

The campaign has been saying that for weeks, and they are correct, the current bad news is always gone in two days... because something worse pops up!

What Romney said was offensive and politically stupid but he was in a situation where he was throwing raw meat to a private audience and the net effect of this comment on the election will be zero.

yet he is far superior to Obama on the topic.
LOL You funny. Conservative foreign policy is incredibly stupid. It should be called "How to make enemies and alienate people.".

Don't believe me? Go travel abroad.

I mean those who support a foreign policy based on "American Exceptionalism" are completely clueless and really need to study their history.
