Romney Wheelchair gate

i think in this day in age someone thats got issues like that should be able to smoke weed as opposed to taking expensive pharmaceutical drugs.

Surprised some of his supporters didn't punch the guy in the wheelchair. Seems like a typical Republican thing to do when they disagree with someone and the opposition 'infiltrates' one of their fundraisers/parties.

What difference would it make if the guy was in a wheelchair ?
Exactly my question. Wouldn't that be like giving a guy a pass because they are white, or black, or polka-dotted?

You can't treat somebody differently because of a wheelchair.

When it comes to a question about the legalization of a medical alternative to help someone confined to a wheelchair, them being in a wheelchair certianly does make their point a little more valid.

My point. Whether or not I have glaucoma, if the law requires me not to have or use that substance it matters not if I am in a wheelchair. Applying it that way makes a mockery of the judicial system's supposed "blindness".

Either change the law, or apply it fairly. Attempting to apply it where and when you want, while ignoring it in other places simply makes it so there is another 'special' class.

Already a higher percentage of one ethnicity make it into jail because of these idiotic laws, we should add to the elite class rather than apply the law evenly?

Not as the law currently is.

The question was pertaining to the legalization of medical marijuana, and whether Romney would support it. He makes it quite clear that he felt the guy should go to jail. By him being confined to that wheelchair, I think it sends much more of a message than some pot-head wanting to get high going and asking the same question.

Umm well what other answer / stance could you expect from a Mormon Republican ?

My point, is that because the guy is confined to a wheelchair, it shows how Romney's stance on the issue would put a guy like him in jail. When I debate medical marijuana with people, the people opposed to it all think that it's just pot-heads wanting cheap and legal pot through the prescription of a doctor. This guy shows that people like him are going to be thrown in jail because of their ignorance.

Our cops don't even bother enforcing weed laws anymore. Unless its large amounts intended for illicit sale and distribution.

I think it should all be decriminalized for all people 21 or older. But that doesn't change that if the law is on the books it should be applied equally regardless of wheelchairs. That being said, the likelihood of this guy going to jail is so small as to be non-existent considering such posession laws are rarely in the amounts that a medical user would ever own.

In most places it would never get you jail unless you had an incredible amount of it. Most places you would get a ticket for a minor misdemeanor.

Yeah, its a waste of police resources to worry about recreational quantities of pot. I don't even think they give you a ticket for it here anymore

lol in Massachusetts I live in a valley area that is prime location for growing because of the conditions. They created a task force for tackling the problem.

Yeah a big crop here in KY and the law enforcement get lots of money from the feds for busting people.

the papers have lots of photos of cops looking like trophy hunters holding up the pot they took.
But a few big ones got away :D
