You Are pretending he was not playing to an evangelical Iowa base. But I will agree that if you are correct, I'd have no prob with that. I did not know teaching your kids your own religen was something anyone ever suggested should not be allowed in America.
 
It is my goal to turn republicans back to personal freedoms, liberties and responsibilities. I will ceaselessly work towards that goal. Mostly because myself and the Democratic party have a fundamental disagreement in how far the government should get into my life, while the disagreement with the republicans isn't fundamental and central to their meme.

When something happens the first thing almost every D on this board will do is try to find some government "solution". The same government that can't even get water rights down, that I've seen take over 30 years to make a decision on fencing... :shakes head:

I fundamentally disagree with that approach, while I believe with the right approach the republicans can be led back onto the path of freedoms...

Ive always said that if the Republcians would drop the social conservatives, especally the Religous right, they would be MUCH closer to getting my vote.

I belive it is the governments place to do what it can in a limited way to provide for a level playing field for tboth hose who are born to poor families and those born to rich families to have equal oppertunity to get whatever they want out of life. Fundamentally I belive the Democrats, at there core, have that goal, while the Republicans do not. THat is what might keep me with the Democrats even if the Republicans lost the social conservatives.

What leads you to believe it is the government's job to level the playing field between those who have more and those who have less? Where do you get that idea?
