A molotov cocktail would do no damage to a modern tank, but Russian infantry likes to ride on tanks, and it could [possibly] kill them. I believe molotov cocktails would mostly be used as a distraction to tanks, while anti-tank weapons were used to destroy them. The Russians need careful combinations of infantry and tanks to take out the smaller anti-tank weapons before they destroy the tanks. The Russians have not demonstrated careful strategies of late.
The Russian Army has over 20,000 BTR APC's alone.

And well over 8,000 other types of APC's
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_equipment_of_the_Russian_Ground_Forces#Vehicles
And that does not include the over 4,000 front line BTR's (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) plus over 8,000 in reserve.
The above alone can carry at least 300,000 troops.
Unless the Russians have gone insane?
There is no way that they are going to roll into a hostile Kiev - with troops riding on the tops of vehicles.
They will/should ALL be under the cover or armor.
