Yes, HS and alcohol are a bad mix. Adding rich brats only makes it worse. These were kids and two of them were shitfaced. I doubt they intended real harm or actual rape. They were young privileged brats who got away with "goofing" around when lesser privileged Americans would have gone to Juvey.
The main problem, IMO, wasn't kids doing stupid things or even college students doing stupid things. No doubt dirt of clumsy passes and what is now sexual harassment could be levied against the vast majority of male college students before the 90s. The worse thing for me is that I think he lied under oath at the conformation hearing about his past. Mostly lies of omission, but also a direct lie about behavior. Where I come from honest, repentant people are boldly honest....but then, I don't associate with political cocksuckers.

Instead the fucker dodged, counter-accused and, IMO, lied under oath:
