Schumer Shutdown in the news: Democrats’ government ‘shutdown’ explained

Keeping the status quo is what a clean resolution is.

That's right, Salty Walty.

A clean CR preserves the status quo without riders or omissions, Salty Walty.

House Republicans passed a short-term CR on September 19, 2025 (H.R. 5371), funding the government at FY2025 levels through November 21 without new policy changes. This bill would maintain current funding levels, so ACA subsidies would continue uninterrupted through December 31 (as they are already authorized under existing law), Salty Walty.

Democrats' counter-proposals bundle CR funding with permanent subsidy extensions and reversals to Medicaid cuts fromexisteing law totaling ~$1.5 trillion in demands, Salty Walty.

That's far beyond a clean bill, Salty Walty.

Then prove it. Offer a clean continuing resolution, including the health care subsidies for the 22 million Americans. If the Democrats do not vote for it, you have proven that the Democrats have shutdown the government to give free healthcare to illegals.

Call the Democrats' supposed bluff.
You dumb fuck. The CR is merely carrying current spending until a budget is worked out. You don't get to add new stuff to it.

This is why I hate arguing with stupid people who don't have the slightest clue of what they are bloviating about. They have to be educated, which they already have proven is impossible, before you can have an intelligent debate.

The CR is merely carrying current spending until a budget is worked out.
No, it is to carry on spending until it runs out. Republicans demanded we give up subsidies for 22 million Americans health coverage, for one month of continued budget. That month is almost up.

No, it is to carry on spending until it runs out.

Wrong. It carries until the Congress passes the 2026 budget; something Democrats have always failed to do on purpose.

Republicans demanded we give up subsidies for 22 million Americans health coverage, for one month of continued budget. That month is almost up.

That's nothing more than a brainless lie. You seem to be quite full of stupid shit and lying. :plam:

It carries until the Congress passes the 2026 budget
The continuing resolution lasted for one month, from October 1st to October 31st. If it had been passed, we would need a new one today.

And Republicans would be demanding even more cuts to allow the government to be open for another month.
