Schumer shutdown updates live

More lisping lies from Shutdown Schumer, who's still pretending that he didn't quarterback Team Blue.

On day 40 of a government shutdown, the Senate reconvenes after a recess and is expected to vote on a motion to reconsider the House-passed continuing resolution to reopen the government. Sixty votes are required.

The ayes have the motions to proceed via voice votes.

The motion to proceed by invoking cloture is on the board. Roll call is moving.

Still waiting, as of now, eight Democrats + 1 Independent broke ranks and voted YES: Cortez Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, King (I), Rosen, Shaheen.

Shutdown Schumer, Fauxcahontas Warren, plus Bernie Sanders, and most Democrats voted NO, screaming that the promise of a December vote on ACA tax credits is "meaningless."

They're right.

At 9:49 p.m. ET, Senators Lee, Scott, and Johnson voted yea, pushing the vote over 60 and allowing it to proceed.

The package still requires further Senate steps, amendments, House approval, and the signature of our glorious leader before fully ending the Schumer shutdown.

Should be done by Monday AM.

ALWAYS THINKING SEVERAL MOVES AHEAD

Did you see the game this week?

1. Democrats planned for a big win by hook or by crook.

2. They tried to get weak-kneed Republicans to cave to their demented demands.

3. The lying legacy media tried to help their fellow lefties by pushing fake news stories about the GOP being responsible for the Schumer Shutdown.

4. Seemed to be working, and then Trump stepped in.

5. Trump posted about nuking the filibuster to end the Schumer Shutdown. He posted about ending Obamacare and giving the money to the people.

6. Trump allowed just enough pain to hit Democrat constituents with flight cancellations and no SNAP benefits.

7. Democrats facing re-election were unable to capitalize on their First Circuit "win" on Tuesday, and faced with increasing political pain and a direct threat to their public image, caved.

8. Trump checkmated shutdown Schumer. The Schumer Shutdown gambit failed bigly.

America is weaker.....America's trust in our government is eroded....it is a stretch to paint this as a good story for us.

To the extent that Americans are beginning to wake up and smell the coffee, realizing that the people who run America dont care about us, that could potentially be a positive.....

If we do anything about it....

Which I doubt.

All 53 Republicans ( Sen. John Cornyn cast the decisive vote) + 7 Democrats/independent caucusing with Democrats crossed party lines: Dick Durbin (IL), John Fetterman (PA), Maggie Hassan (NH), Angus King (I-ME), Tim Kaine (VA), Catherine Cortez Masto (NV), Jacky Rosen (NV), Jeanne Shaheen (NH).

  • Tonight (November 9): Cloture vote passed, setting the stage.
  • Tomorrow (November 10): The Senate will amend the CR, pass it, and send it to the House. The House, reconvening at noon, could vote that night. President Trump is expected to sign immediately, likely by November 10 or early November 11.
  • The government won't fully reopen until after the bill is signed, which could be November 11, 2025, but the legislative action to end the shutdown is on track for November 10, 2025.
