Science doesn't know everything

I have to say, if you've ever read or studied about the Big Bang, it is truly nutty. The entire Universe coming out of a subatomic particle that apparently arose from nowhere, and contained all of the matter that is now in the known universe.

Near Death Experiences are also kind of cool to look into; there is remarkable similarity among them, though I understand the argument that people can hallucinate during those times.

Still, it's enough that I'm not willing to discount the existence of something. "God" is probably the wrong word, since it has too many connotations, and generally draws an immediate image of the male, Christian sky God, with the white beard & the rest, who has all kinds of crazy mood swings. I could probably definitively say that doesn't exist.

No, science has nothing to say about any "supernatural intervention" other then that is a science stopper. When someone invokes a claim of supernatural intervention for phenomena science can only provide a natural explanations for that phenomena or declare that the claim for supernatural causation is outside the age old frame work and ground rules for science.

From a purely philosophical perspective, that is a relevant consideration. However, that is not what I stated or defined in any way. Science can "suggest" what is factual, it can't conclude it. We can use scientific suggestions to form opinions on what we believe to be true and factual, we can even draw well-founded conclusions, but sometimes science is incorrect. That's my only point, science can never "know" something conclusively, if it did, it would stop being science and start becoming faith.

in considering your allegations of rape, you might want to keep in mind that one of the reasons that there was enmity between the Israelites and the Midianites was the fact that years earlier, when they had camped together near Moab the Israelites and the Midianite women had in fact had sexual relations, and the Midianite women had caused many Hebrew men to give sacrifices to Baal.....God had punished Israel with the plague at Baal Peor.....

you assume that they kept the virgins alive because they wanted them for sex.....in actuality, the virgins were the only ones kept alive because they were too young to HAVE sex, thus they wouldn't have been any of the ones involved in the Baal Peor incident.....
