I wonder when, and from whom, did McClellan receive a phone call saying "Scott, what the fuck are you doing? You HAVE to change this. We can't have you saying that those men lied to you and you carried that lie to the public." The official release was put out with quotes around McClellan's own writing and now he is backtracking. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I actually think this is a case of people reading too much into what McClellan wrote and the published encouraging that reading of what he wrote.

Re-read the quoted selection and as yourself the following questions through the eyes of the Devil's Advocate:

1) What is "it" that Scotty is referring to when he says "It was not true?"

2) What does "involved" mean when he says "And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the president himself?"

It means they were all involved in tellig the American people lies.

They should have known they were lies. I knew they were lies when I first heard them.
