Sell me on Vladamir Putin

Pretend that I'm a blank slate. Sell me on why Putin is good for Russia, why America should 'team-up' with Russia in general, and/or why Russia under Putin should be embraced in the international community of liberal democracies as an ally.

Ready. Set. Go.

I think the former KGB boss appeals to American rightwingers on a few different levels.

For one thing, he appeals to the rightwings inherent appreciation of authoritarianism, and their disdain for liberal western democracy and democratic institutions.

Putin's embrace of the Russian Orthodox Church and their socially conservative dogma no doubt appeals to the religious fundamentalism in the rightwing.

Now, when Putin takes photos ops with his shirt off in some rugged outdoors pose, he also titillates the American rightwing male's latent gay-curious subconscious.

realpolitik.. either deal with Putin,or Putin runs wild like he did under Obama.

Calling him a "KGB murderous thug" does nothing but make one feel good.

You don't have to team up. you do gotta deal with the worlds 2nd largest military

The Russian military looks impotent based on their performance in Ukraine, and the West's unprecedented sanctions are going to turn Russia into a third rate economic power with a GDP on par with Spain.

I do not understand why you wanted America to get on it's knees and beg Vlad to be our ally and friend.

America's best interest lie in strengthening NATO, and cultivating our relationship in Asia with the Quad: India, Japan, Australia.

Do you think a relationship based on appeasing Putin is productive?

I think Russia would like nothing more than for America to adopt an America First stance on foreign policy.

You are conflating Russia's interests with Putin's interests. At the moment, Putin is Russia, but that has proven terrible for Russians, as most are living below what Americans would consider the poverty line. Russia could be more than a glorified gas tank.

Even now, you say that Crimea is done and over with, and everyone should just accept the annexation. You are the best spokesman for Russia on these forums. Do you watch RT a lot?

I snipped most of your post, the stuff that references the imaginary Deep State -- which is so much gobbledekgook that you cannot even define it what it is or where its located.

It's not wisdom, is the point. Kissinger says something you agree with and you are passing it off as wisdom. Wisdom is not wisdom when the source is curdled.

You're one hundred percent wrong.

Maximizing our production of oil for ourselves and others would cut the saudis and russia off at the knees.

Russia and Chinese interests are BOTH best served by america being brainwashed by globalization stupidity.

LOL.

the globalist lefties are the authoritarians and censors.

You're projecting, dipfag.

I have seen many Russians interviewed on the street. The vast majority indicate disgust with the war and also admit they are afraid to be specific. There can be a15 year sentence for speaking up.I can only speak for those interviewed. There were some, mostly older people, who backed Putin 100 percent and blamed NATO and America for forcing Putin to kill Ukrainians.

how is the Cold War2.0 an appeasement?

Everyone would benefit.
But it's not going to happen unless both Putin and Trump try to ratchet down the tensions.
And that's not going to happen given the climate of Russiaphobia sweeping DC

Trying to un-twine Putin from Russia today is impossible.
It's like saying what if there was no NATO expansion. Events exist. Putin exists.
That's the "real" part of realpolitik. dealing with states as they are, not how we want them to be

argumentative with out purpose

It operates as a power base within existing government. It's not like you can put it on a flow-chart.
It's the IC leadership in conjunction with it's powers to set policy ( like the Russiaphobia)
in tandem with other players that shift in an out.

OK. it's smart power..lol

Putin is a War Criminal, a war monger, a despot, he cannot be trusted, and even the generally mild mannered French president Macron said Vlad is duplicitous.

What you call "Russophobia" is looking in hindsight more like steely-eyed realism about Putin's intentions.
