Sending Waiters to Jail for Offering Plastic Straws

Do you know what happens if someone is convicted of violating the United States Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015?

Well the federal bill does not set a penalty, that is up to the states. The norm is a civil penalty around $2500-$5000 a day for each violation.

It is?

How do you know?

That's what I've seen happen in the past. Most businesses are smart enough to pay them though, or not break the laws to begin with.

For someone who claims to know everything about this law, you sure are asking alot of questions. What do you think happens, smartass? Enlighten me.

You're the one who stated "there's no jail time involved in that law, only a civil penalty" and advised me to try again. Did you forget?

there's no jail time involved in that law, only a civil penalty. So no. Not on the same level. At all. Try again.

So, again, can you state factually what happens if a violator does not pay a civil penalty/fine?

Which is true. Unless I'm wrong, and you'd like to show me that there is, in fact, a jail sentence for violating that law. Show me.

I like how you dodged that lol. What happens, man? Do you even know?

The fines stack up and, after too long, the business likely gets shut down. Which is extremely rare to happen because businesses usually pay them or don't violate those laws at all.

Again, if I am somehow wrong about this please enlighten me. But you can't, and you won't. You want to drag me along in circles to avoid the fact you don't know the first damn thing about this law.

Asking someone to prove a negative is a fallacious argument, isn't it?

I didn't claim there is a a jail sentence for violating that law, did I?

You, on the other hand, stated that there's a civil penalty.

What happens to a violator who doesn't pay?

I'm not the party claiming to have knowledge of the law.

Likely? That doesn't sound very definitive, does it?

Do you have any statistics or citations to support your contentions?

I didn't claim to know much about it. It's beginning to appear that you don't know much about it, actually. I'm curious, and I'd like to ascertain the depth of your expertise.

Do you know what happens if a civil penalty is unpaid, or don't you? Not what you suppose is "likely", and not speculative ruminations, please.

So you have no fucking clue. :rofl2:

You did strut into this thread acting like you knew better about environmental law than I did. But you don't know shit, man. Just as I thought.

BTW I say "likely" because unpaid civil penalties go to court, dumbass. They decide what happens.

But there is no jail-time for violation of the microbead-free water act. Which was my original point. It's not even on the same planet as this proposed California law with a penalty of 6 months jailtime for offering plastic straws. Unless you somehow have breaking evidence proving everything I just said wrong, I'd say we're done here. I have better things to do than run around in mental circles with you.

Mere supposition on your part. I made no such representation. Any misapprehensions you indulged in are your sole responsibility.

Fascinating. Cite some examples, please, and list the outcomes, if you'd be so kind.

Thanks.

Are you admitting that you cannot answer a simple question?

I'll repeat it for your benefit before you decide.

What happens if a violator doesn't pay the civil penalty?

It's your move.
