Serious Question: Was the Killing of the US Ambassador in Libya Morally Justifiable?

I know, all murder is bad.

That being said .. imagine if America had been attacked and destroyed by a foreign government.

Would the agents of that government who assisted the band of terrorists who destroyed the country and committed unspeakable acts of violence, beheadings, rape, murder and genocide .. would those agents be legitimate targets of American retaliation?

Everyone wait; because BAC hasn't dropped the second shoe yet.

For me the answer is no. I believe everyone deserves a day in court no matter how loathsome and murderous they are. And if thugs like bin Laden, Saddam, etc. are found guilty, lock them up and throw away the key.

That is an honest perspective good sister. The problem is those scales aren't balanced.

George Bush is in Crawford, Texas playing with cows. Dick Cheney is sipping Jack Daniels on a yacht. Condelezza Rice is plyuing the violin while watching her bank account grow. Colin Powell .. is still confused. But they're all alive, and their only concern is what to do with all the cash.

In their wake are countless dead people. Thousands of them children and babies. We used white phosporus as a weapon in Iraq. It burns the flesh right off a person while they're still alive. Many of those victims were children.

Saddam and Bin Laden are dead.

Bush and company will never go to trial.

If the scale isn't balanced, it ain't justice.

Oh, I was keeping up when the uprising began.

The timeline of the uprising, subsequent UN security counsel resolution, and NATO's actions are much more complex than your generalized OP.

Libya was the home base for Al Qaeda for a very long time.

You make it sound like we gave our AQ buddies a call, and told them there's a hoedown in Libya.

What I sound like is demonstrated in the facts. If you're suggesting that we didn't know it was Al Queda we were arming and funding, then you don't know the facts.

If you're suggesting that we didn't know that Benghazi was the home of AQ and that many of the fighters who fought against US troops in Iraq were among those we were arming and funding .. again you don't know the facts.

I know exactly what the timeline was, I also know the unfounded and proven false lies that we used to invade the country.

You are free to draw your own conclusions brother .. but the facts remain the same.

I just said that we knew AQ had a gigantic presence in Libya for years.

If you're suggesting that we didn't know that Benghazi was the home of AQ and that many of the fighters who fought against US troops in Iraq were among those we were arming and funding .. again you don't know the facts.
The uprising began in Benghazi....that's true. AQ is heavily armed, whereas the general public isn't. Is it your position that it was only AQ that was responsible for the huge revolt against Kadaffi?

If you know the timeline, why does your OP make it sound like we just marched into Libya, and destroyed her?

Did we even have boots on the ground? Libya was in pretty bad shape before the world even took notice.

Absolutely. I was in the vanguard of the "impeach bush and cheney" movement and still wear my t-shirt from time to time. When Pelosi said impeachment was off the table, I was furious. Still am, to be perfectly honest. Saddam and bin Laden are dead, yet those two got away with murder. No justice.
