Here's the thing...the right wing cherishes so-called mavericks, black, female, gay, Hispanic, who don't fit their preconceived stereotypes of the group think of blacks, females, gays, and Hispanics. There's only a handful of each, but they welcome them with open arms.

It's fine. After all, if I was a black, female, gay or Hispanic and wanted to get my fifteen minutes of fame in the political arena, I would definitely go against those preconceived stereotypes.

Therein lies the problem, you seem to think it is fine to just make up statistics. I don't, it is just patent bullshit that 1 in 4 male students are rapists. How can you assess how bad a problem is if you don't have accurate statistics free from bias and massaging?

And like I said, I would go with the 1 in 4 stat.

And the op was about colleges addressing sexual assault - you are getting hung up on a number. You aren't addressing the op - too few colleges admit to the sexual assault that is happening on their campuses.

To paraphrase the last paragraph of the original article - "Do you care about the frequency of rape on college campuses? Or has it become an acceptable activity during the 21st century in America?"

If you ask a loaded question like "have you had sexual intercourse when you didn’t want to because a man gave you alcohol or drugs?" and then use that to indicate a rape then it is not surprising that you get that stat. I don't doubt there is a problem on campuses but you don't help your cause by perpetuating bogus statistics.
