Should Obama have vetoed the bill?

The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.
 
The authorization granted the President the authority to use all "necessary and appropriate force" against those whom he determined "planned, authorized, committed or aided" the September 11th attacks, or who harbored said persons or groups.

Several of you seem to be missing the point.

This horrible piece of legislation was written and passed by BOTH sides. This is not about republicans or democrats. This is about politicians stomping on the US Constitution.

And as long as they can keep us bickering along party lines they will continue to do this sort of shit.
 
The bill passed as written to avoid a debt ceiling like power play by the right.

Don't hassle her with facts like that.

Does anybody else remember the Obama promise not to use these appropriations bills?
