Should Progressives Have Chosen Hillary Over Obama in 2008?

I'm not sure how the senate rules work. I know in the house, if the majority leader doesn't want to vote on it, it's not going to be voted on, even if there is a majority in favor. In the senate, I think the majority leader has similar powers, but there may be some sort of procedural way to overcome that.
