Oct. 25 2022 - U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin's campaign is denouncing as false and divisive a new campaign mailer from the Michigan Republican Party that claims she supports child sterilization and gender transitioning without parental consent.

The mailer promotes GOP state Sen. Tom Barrett of Charlotte in his tossup race against the two-term Democratic congresswoman in mid-Michigan. The contest in Michigan's new 7th District is among the most competitive and expensive congressional battles in the country.

"Mr. Barrett is ending his campaign the same way it started: drumming up fear and hate and using children as political pawns," Slotkin said in a statement. "As leaders, we should be focused on the issues that impact the widest range of our constituents in need. But Mr. Barrett would rather sow division and fan the flames of the culture wars than support the families in our community."
