Small size of most U.S. police departments complicates reform

Over the last 10 years I've been harassed and almost arrested several times for open carrying an AR-15 in Texas, which is NOT against the law. Are you going to tell me to not open carry an AR-15, despite it not being illegal?

I'll just suggest that you don't walk around Boston with your ugly toy.
If I were being my usual prick self, I'd suggest that you did.

Since, techically, it's against the law in both Boston and Mass, of course I wouldn't. But we're talking about Texas, a semi free state. Not Massachusetts, a semi communist state

we all know you want to see anyone not left of you dead, very typical of socialist loving tyrants.

no im telling you not to J-walk.
why you feel the need to carry a rifle on city streets is beyond my ability to diagnose; legal or not

boston thats home to the liberal mob

Yup.

Ted Williams was actually a Republican, but the son of a bitch sure could hit. It was incredible.

The only good thing about being my age is that I'm old enough to have seen him play when I was a boy.

Poor bastard is a popsicle now. His moron kids froze his ass.

That's what they must do to Republicans. I sure wouldn't know.

Given this information, I'm wondering if you realized that your so called social security isnt enough to keep you afloat. am I right?

We have a national police force called the FBI. The left doesn't want more efficient police they want more people on the government payroll. We all see how inefficient big government is now. Nationalizing the nations police would be a giant step forward in completely destroying law enforcement.
The FBI certainly has it's place, but what some people seem to dancing around is a national street cop police force like the Federales. A force with direct control by Washington DC.

I have social security, additional pension from my work, and regular albeit modest investment income coming in.
Plus property where real estate is expensive.
I'm OK for now...and I've had both of my covid shots, too.

Thanks for pretending to give a shit, STY.
You must be having a good day.
If your mom is alive, give her a smooch.
I imagine trumpanzees do that too.

Experts say that while smaller departments have their benefits, including being able to adapt to their communities and hire officers with local ties, these agencies also are typically able to avoid the accountability being sought as part of the national movement to restructure and improve policing. These departments’ often limited resources and the decentralized structure of American law enforcement complicate efforts to mandate widespread training and policy changes, experts say.

“It’s unlike any other country,” Wexler said. “In places like the United Kingdom, you have a Home Office, you have standards. In Germany or Israel … they have a national police. Our policing is completely fragmented, decentralized, with no national standards.”

You go mess with TPD, I've seen the results of doing so. I ain't the one.

They will kick you, and kick you some moar, boy!

They don't care if you're a celebrity, they are equal-opportunity ass-kickers.

Don't mess with the popo here, they will kick your ass and take you to jail.

Do the Texas cops treat you gently when you bring them upstairs, Miss Kitty?
Or maybe you like it rough?

Texas is not a city, shitlick.

Come here and try to run the bullshit you run where you're at and you'll find out.

FL does not play that bullshit.

There's still cockroaches that fled from LA after Katrina and tried to play their games here, and are still here in FL.

Right up the road, baby. And that's where they'll be. ;)

I get it, Miss Kitty.

The cops in Houston and Dallas and San Antonio are all from Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Maybe old Mexico, too.

There's less traffic in Texas so the commute isn't so bad.

And the intelligence level is also up there, somewhere around Florida level, no?

There's something seriously wrong with this mindset. It puts you on the same level as the leftists wanting to use government as a weapon against those you hate

a person shot and killed by a policeman isn't necessarily a problem.......in fact, in the majority of situations it is the solution........
No due process? Remember all the bitching, screaming and moaning by the Right over 'due process' when Obama authorized running a Hellfire missile up a terrorist's ass?

According to me: That puts me on the common sense level. Don't mess with the popo here, they will kick your ass. I have friends and family in that dept.

They didn't set the rules, but the rules are there. As for me, I'm gonna abide by them. :D

If you only knew..LOL!

Explain to me what's wrong with my mindset, pls.

Why do you think Chauvin should have been convicted without a trial?

Yes, the rules of deadly force are standardized. Chauvin violated those rules and that's why he was on trial for murder, and rightfully so.

Consider the use of deadly force by Officer Darren Wilson. He didn't violate the rules and, despite several investigations, was cleared of wrong doing.

IMO, the focus should be more on body cams and car cams. With current tech, all police cars should be able to have a 360 degree camera view at relatively low cost. Body cam laws should require being on 24/7. It was body cams that were Chauvin's undoing and, IMO, it would have cleared Wilson much more quickly.

Chauvin did not use deadly force.
