Social Media Is Tearing America Apart

Hello domer76,

I have settled on calling them the Trump party. Trump partisans. It clearly depicts who is being spoken of, but does so without disdain.

The whole thing is we have to be able to discuss politics or the nation is completely dysfunctional. And we have to have terms to refer to each side. So that's it.

I can discuss politics, or any subject for that matter, with rational people. One could have been fooled by Trump initially. But, to continue to support that pathologically lying piece of human feces eliminates them from the ‘rational people’ category.

They are cultists.

Well, I certainly agree it is s cult. I just don't see much point in trying to discuss anything with people who are just looking for someone to unload their frustrations on.

I'm here, I'm wide open for excellent political discussions. I simply have no interest in insult contests. So, I say something liberal. Then, a very frustrated hateful person from the right wants to call me a name and attempt to unload their frustration on me. Which isn't really possible because they are so uptight about it that even telling me off doesn't really do it, but whatever. They are still frustrated and hateful after they do it, right? Well,,, What can I possibly say in response? If I lower myself to that level and come up with something equally hurtful to say, you know, tit for tat, right? Then what does that do? All I've done is lower myself to that level. Which isn't interesting. I have no interest in that. And it's all been a great distraction from actually discussing politics.

And then you get emotions involved and it detracts from an intellectual discussion. If the emotions become heated enough it's completely dysfunctional. Not a political discussion at all. Just a name-calling contest. DULL! BORING! Who needs that? I don't. My life is better than that. I don't want to get sucked into that.

Agreed as far as those who actually get off their asses and attend rallies, insurrections, murders, etc.

Most of the JPP RWers are armchair cultists; they're believers as long as they don't have to do anything, risk anything or get in trouble.

Social media is causing lots of problems for our nation.

And I can't think of any problems it has solved.

All it is is an impersonal way to spread rumors.

And then somebody gets rich off of it and they make lots of lists about people and keep all their data.

I see not social benefit to it.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Which explains why Trump is starting his own.

Yeah, that's kind of funny. He won't play nice so he got tossed off the most active ones. And now he expects everybody to jump onto his own so he can control everything and he will never get tossed off that one for being mean.

That's dumb.

I can see why nobody is interested.

Oh, but they can certainly unload a lot of frustrations on anybody they disagree with. I suppose it comes from a lack of being able to make a good political argument for the Trump party. And really, how could one? There is no logic behind it. I mean, what is their vision for America? What would they like to do with the country? Well, that's hard to say. The Democrats wrote it all down. Made a list, Put it on a website. They created a platform and put it out there so everybody could see it.

But the Trump party doesn't do that. They have no platform, no vision for what the country should be. It seems to be only hatred and whatever Trump wants. Even if he changes his mind, then all his followers have to change their minds too? That's ridiculous. A political party should spell out what it stands for.

Most of that is displaced aggression; they take all the frustration in their life and lay it on some innocent person. Kick-the-cat syndrome.

Trump is all about pleasing Trump. He's off in a delusional world where, without a doubt, he truly believes he won the election. Look at the people who actually follow him, go to his rallies and attack people. Most of the Trumpers on JPP are losers who never leave their homes. Those who do are the nutty ones.

There will be a huuuuuuge surge of interest when it kicks off. Trump will fuck it up somehow and it will be mediocre at best if not implode entirely.

And since they represent an infinitesimally small percentage of American voters, then their views are insignificant. So there is no real point in talking to them.

I just find it bizarre that we have this amazing internet connection where people can exchange thoughts and ideas about what's going on in our country, truly an extraordinary technological development, and what is it being used for? To exchange moronic grade school insults?

I happen to believe we can do better; and should. I don't see any point in all that interpersonal nonsense with people who will never even meet!

We could be exchanging ideas, brainstorming. If you get enough minds together it's entirely possible to come up with a creative new solution or approach to pressing issues. And here we in this forum can't get past current events without a bunch of deviated name-calling.

Small minds talk about other people.

Average minds discuss current events.

Great minds consider ideas.

So what does that say about JPP?

Where most of the talk is about other people.

Lotta small-minded talk, eh?
