As some may know, one of my favorite activities on JPP is sock hunting. JPP presents a unique opportunity since it allows multiple accounts of members.

One of the most obvious socks is @Into the Night, @gfm7175, @IBDaMann. Legion AKA @Lionfish was notorious for multiple socks. I suspect that two of his socks are @zymurgy and @ziggy but those two accounts post so rarely and in short posts that it's difficult to get a read on them.

Since the average age of JPP members is over 60, plus white and male, it narrows the parameters of behavioral patterns. Given the demographics, the best time for sock hunting is Friday and Saturday evenings....after Happy Hour. LOL

As all rational adults know, alcohol reduces inhibitions thus making people more likely to be open about their thoughts. It also increases the likelihood of making mistakes. Combined, it's a terrific recipe for revealing socks.

Unfortunately, neither Sybil nor Legina appear to be drinkers so other methods of revealing their socks must be used. Sybil, being clearly mentally ill, is easier since irrational people are never as smart as they believe themselves to be. The fact he posted a link to his fake forum in the signature of two of his socks made the hunt all the easier. https://politiplex.freeforums.net/

Legina is more intelligent but appears to be deteriorating mentally. IDK why. Testimony indicates he's only in his late 20s/early 30s.

Questions for the thread are:
1. How do you hunt socks? Are you even curious?
2. How do you determine if a person is rational or not?

I first put just a "like" reaction on this post. Then I started reading. I have most of them on ignore but took off one and out popped all the enraged socks you named!

Love it.
LOL

All the socks are lame. I can understand a mod having a sock, one for fun, one for work, but others who use socks are typically doing it to harass or otherwise be dishonest.

Thanks :-). It's my hope that in the future, we have more threads that are nicer to each other. All this dissing of each other gets me down and I'm already sick (started on Friday).
As mentioned in the OP, the demographics of JPP lean hard toward older, white males. Most of them are lonely and in pain so all they like to do is spread their loneliness and pain onto others.

That does make some sense, lol :-p. But threads like the TV/Film one and a few others show that it doesn't -always- have to be people dissing each other. I think I need the happier side most when I'm sick, so that's my focus for now.

Subterfuge is a common element as is dishonesty and perverse pleasure.
BowelWoman/Phanta/鬼百合
People who use socks lack the mental strength to stand on their own.
What about those that openly use socks?
They need to use lies.
See above. That's not lying.
This often correlates to a weakness of body too.
Now where did you get that information from?
Awesome. Sorry to have upset you so much by dissing weak-minded little fucks who use sock puppets. :)
I thought I overheard you saying you wanted to be reported.

Well, stop by the "Nice Thread" any time. No need to read the entire huge thing, either. We're LW and RW and MW (middle wing lol) and mostly we all get along. The OP has thread-banned a few troublemakers so by and large it's civil, esp. compared to some discussions. We talk about movies, TV, food, pets, politics, weather, hobbies, our various situations including health at times (much to the ire of some here), kids, g-kids, more food. Food's on almost every page. lol

Carbon-14 is total garbage if you are trying to date something for which carbon-14 cannot be used. Did you say that FOOTPRINTS were dated?
^^^
Idiota.

The reason this process works is because when organisms are alive, they are constantly replenishing their 14C supply through respiration, providing them with a constant amount of the isotope. However, when an organism ceases to exist, it no longer takes in carbon from its environment and the unstable 14C isotope begins to decay. From this science, we are able to approximate the date at which the organism lived on Earth. Radiocarbon dating is used in many fields to learn information about the past conditions of organisms and the environments present on Earth.

I have actually posted in that thread, though I think it's been a while now. Not sure why it was made in the War Zone, but there you have it :-p.

The War Zone has laxer rules than the main forum.

Although you don't like the animosity shown by many on JPP, I consider a lightly moderated forum to be akin to bar talk; people are less inhibited and, therefore, more likely to speak their mind.

Is there any doubt that lot of the "tough guys" on JPP are insecure and weak people IRL? That those who spread hate are suffering from pain, physical and/or mental?

JPP is a great lab for studying the psychology of elderly, white males and, to a lesser extent, other demographics. This would not be possible in a strongly moderated forum like Debate Politics or even USMessageBoard.

I'd say that, apart from Above Plain Politics, JPP -in general- has pretty lax rules. That being said, The War Zone seems to take the laxity of JPP rules to their limit :-p. If I had to guess, though, I think Walt may have started it as a type of counter current to many of the threads here, which tend to be on the negative side. I think right wingers do this with the OMG thread here. As to JPP in general, I've already said elsewhere that I've come to appreciate laxer rules when it comes to posters interactions with each other, in contrast to places like Debate Politics and USMessageBoard. I learned the hard way that fairly strict board rules doesn't always mean a better place to talk, especially if one posts things that are controversial. I've gotten warnings in both of those forums for things I doubt Admins here would bat an eye at. This post is an example of how inane things can get elsewhere:

If you like, you can try to figure out why I got a 5 point warning for that post. The answer and my protest to said answer is in the spoiler below.

A moderator in the forum named DiAnna sent me the following message:

You don't seemed to get the message about Spamming. This time you'll get points. Continue spamming these same messages and the points will increase to 10, then 20 which will probably be a perma ban. Your choice.

This is a major infraction and this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Your message may have been removed or altered.

Your account's access may be limited based on these actions. Please keep this in mind when posting or using our site.

Here's was my response to all the Moderators/Admins:

In my last conversation with Dianna in regards to the Rule 2b rule, I asked her if I could at least link to articles, as she said that I had posted a quote from an article too often. She said that I could. I took this to mean that I could also post links to threads and/or posts in threads that I had made here. I had -also- specifically requested more clarity not just from Dianna, but from all the moderators, as well as well as RedAckston on this rule, as I suspected that there would be some hidden meaning to it that would get me into trouble again. And now here we are -.-

On a side note, I really don't understand how linking to threads that I've made that explain points can possibly be considering spam, especially if I have to constantly counter various arguments over and over again.

**

As I told a few friends I had in the forum, I suspected that I wouldn't last much longer in the forum due to these absurd penalties. So shortly thereafter, I decided to just stop posting publicly there. Since most conversations are public in online forus, I haven't sent anyone a message over there for a while either.

Hence why I like JPP over DP or USMB. LOL

I've only been permbanned from one forum* and a few temp bans on others. Echo chambers are as boring as the SSDD MAGA rants on JPP by certain members. Some people just like to vent their pain. Fine. A few catch my interest due to their psychological quirks.

While I can debate with both Left and Right Wing members in a civil manner, it only takes a few dozen posts to pass information such as Hegseth's and General Caine's briefing this morning. After that, it's either geezers repeating the same old shit or gets into a name-calling contest as people vent....almost always the MAGAts. LOL

I've never heard a credible explanation for the gratuitous and deceptive use of socks.

In real life, normal people don't obscure their identity by lurking behind masks or putting on disguises. Normal people just intuitively know there is something wrong with that kind of lurking and deception.

With the exception of mods, the reason for people to use socks is to either pat themselves on the back/make their own arguments appear more popular. Note how many times Sybil "thanks" his own posts. Another reason is to be able to troll others without tarnishing their primary account.
With Sybil, I repeatedly chided him by pointing out that his 3 socks were always civil toward each other and never antagonistic as with other members. After several weeks of this, he finally began having his socks "debate" issues instead of just jerking himself off. Notice the difference in demeanor between Sybil's socks and others on the forum. It's interesting.

I've been perma banned from at least 2 forums myself. The most recent one was apparently for a false reason though- apparently, they thought I had a sock account. I didn't though. I -was- using a VPN a lot of the time on their forum, but only because they wouldn't let me log in at all a lot of the time when I wasn't. With others like Debate Politics, I just came to the conclusion that certain mods didn't like me and would get very creative in their reasoning to hit me with points and such that ultimately -could- have led to me getting banned- I just stopped posting before that happened.

As to debates, I think debates can go on for quite a long time between people who disagree on things, but for that, civility has to be maintained. As soon as the insults start flying, the prospects of a continuation of any productive discussion dwindle.

I had a few run-ins on DP myself, but nothing permanent.

As for debates, how many posts before the debate is concluded? Example; Is Manned Spaceflight necessary?

I'm pro-manned spaceflight. It would only take about 3-4 posts to cover all the reasons including my initial POV and then responses to disagreements.

For business reasons, most forums prefer threads be 100+ posts. This explains why, to a certain extent, forum admins allow thread drift and, on JPP, trolling and name-calling. It's business.

It also explains why Damo allows sock puppets and trolls like @Into the Night / @gfm7175 /@IBDaMann . As long as they are generating posts, they're generating traffic and that's good for business.

It's also why he allows the ignore feature which, if used, simply makes the posts of people on ignore disappear. Those who habitually troll or otherwise bother a member can be eliminated from one's view without affecting the business aspects of the forum. As you probably gathered, I never voluntarily use the ignore feature except as a test.
