Oil is still vital to both the economy and to national security. Why isn't the government, the Dept. of Energy, going into the business of new wells and building new refineries instead of leaving it up to private industry?

And he is telling the EU nations, it is on them to partrol and keep the Strait after the US leaves, because he says America does not need the Strait and they do and thus they must clean up the mess.

That is because Trump has been advised Iran will be able to extract a huge cost for years or more on any ships trying to pass thru the Strait and many ships will suffer losses and lost lives, including those defending. Iran will have all the "hand".

Trump does not want to see reports of US soldiers defending coming home in body bags for maybe years, due to his war, and his Department of War looking impotent to stop it.

Trump now knows Iran has all most of the "cards" and he has few.

Well we do need another refinery or two IMO the gov. should NOT be doing it but should be extending , or offering loans to big oil co. that would be at very low interest, so they will build more.

Trump is all impulse and reaction and he will not pause for strategy or contingencies once his pea brain thinks he knows an answer.

In this case he believed Lindsey Graham and Netanyahu andother NeoCons whispering in his ear 'this will be just like Venezuela... instant surrender... you will get to pick new leader..."

Thing is the NeoCon's knew this would spiral into something much bigger and were banking on it. Israel is doing all they can to ensure there is no quick peace here as they want Iran devastated to the same state Iraq was. Israel has been targeting and taking all the remaining leaders in Iran who are the ones who are said to be less extreme and not as religious dogmatic and willing to 'martyr' the citizens and country in an endless battle.

Right now, WTI Crude is at $93.21/barrel.

Also, when is the "tariff pain" and the "empty shelves" pain coming? I've heard about those fear mongerings for about a year now, but I have yet to see it.
