Souls to the Polls? Not in Texas

It may have originally, but it has been amended. It appears that people like volsrock missed the memo.
Republicans stop reading after the 2nd amendment. They certainly don't want to read the 15th amendment.

A long-standing tradition in the black community of voting after church services is, of course, coming under assault by the racist Texas Republican legislature. Among the disgusting and transparent provisions in the proposed legislation, this stands as the best example of exactly what Republicans are trying to prevent...... black voting.

"The legislation requires more counties to offer at least 12 hours of early voting each weekday of the last week of early voting, but sets a new window of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for voting. This would directly preempt Harris County’s 24-hour voting, which it planned to keep for future elections. It would also slightly shorten the extra hours other large counties offered in the last election by keeping their polling places open until 10 p.m. — three hours past the usual 7 p.m. closing time — for at least a few days.

The draft also sets a new window for early voting on Sundays, limiting it from 1 to 9 p.m."

Why has the GOP become a party of treasonous, racist scumbags?

Looks like the Texas legislature has too much time on their hands. Much ado about nothing. As if this new reg would effect even one vote . I never heard of voting on a Sunday much less a tradition of blacks voting after church on Sundays.
Every place I’ve ever lived voting was on a Tuesday..

HOW IS THAT "LIMITING IT"? WHEN TF DO YOU THINK PEOPLE GET OUT OF CHURCH??

THAT'S 8 HOURS TO VOTE...ON SUNDAY.

6AM to 9PM is FIFTEEN HOURS TO VOTE.

I THINK THEY CAN MAKE IT, IF THEY REALLY WANT TO.

24 HOUR VOTING IS RIDICULOUS, AND AN INVITATION TO FRAUD.
