southernman's happiest day

The expert filed a report that disputes your baseless assertion. :)

No, an expert wrote an article that talked about John Wayne being one of the most popular movie stars. About his movies being the highest grossing of all time. About him being a legend. It was full of glowing descriptions about how wonderful John Wayne was.

And I did not dispute any of that.

What the article did not do was claim that John Wayne was one of the Top 10 Actors. My claim was that there were and are greater actors.

The top 10 in this year's "America's Favorite Movie Star" Harris Poll (with last year's rank in parenthesis) is as follows:

1. Clint Eastwood (2)
2. Johnny Depp (8)
3. Denzel Washington (1)
4. Sandra Bullock (not ranked)
5. Tom Hanks (7)
6. George Clooney (not ranked)
7. John Wayne (3)
8. Meryl Streep (not ranked)
9. Morgan Freeman (9)
10. Julia Roberts (6)

actually, thats impressive, if of course, this poll actually means anything
What about Louise Lasziere? How could anyone forget her immortal performances at "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"?

Sandra Bullock has one good performance (Blind Side) and she is number 4? Give me a break...

Clooney is a horrid actor. He is the Jessica Alba for women. Eye candy only.... no talent.
Yea I agree. How could this list not include such greats as Hank Fonda, Jimmy Stewart and James Cagney?

John Wayne NEVER played anyone but John Wayne, that does not detract from his movies, my favorites of his was The Shootist, toward the end of his life, and True Grit. He was HORRIBLE as Genghis Kahn in The Conqueror as was Susan Hayward as Bortai.

The Duke was awesome. Rio Bravo, True Grit, The Cowboys, The Sands of Iwo Jima, In Harms Way. All great movies.

Actually, you said that he never had a range of characters, and the expert says otherwise. Get over it.

It is a lie that I lied.

"Actually, you said that he never had a range of characters,..."

"...but he never had the range of characters that mark a great actor."

Can you see the difference? In your statement, you claim I said he never had a range of characters. I actually said he never had the range of characters that mark a great actor.

So yes, you lied. Or you deliberately misquoted what I said. Either way, you were intentionally misleading about what I said.
