the WH just came out today and defended the expansion of oil drilling offshore....
is desh going to explode?
is desh going to explode?
maybe you need another martini first.
The cost of this devastation will be felt by the American people for decades.
Will the oil company respoonsible for this subsidize the fishing industry , the tourist industry until they recover their full costs?
No they wont.
What you oil at any cost people are doing is sacraficing several industries at the benifit of one industry.
What you are defending makes no sense unless of course you only care about oil profits and nothing else.
why did it take 8 days for Obama to even respond to it? how many lives will be lost because he waited so long?
not to everyone. i'm not looking forward to the huge loss of animal life that's already starting.
First Katrina then this...man cuz....I've seen this shit before and my heart bleeds for the Gulf Coast. This is going to be a life changing event for many thousands who live or make their living on the gulf coast.I guess that shit is funny if your not on the gulf coast.
Bull shit. By definition all accidents are avoidable.accidents happen, whether its an oil rig or a nuclear plant. no way to stop them.
You're not seriously going to try and compare this to Dubya's pathetic response time to hurricane Katrina, are you?
Because one was a force of nature no one could control, the other was caused by shoddy engineering and construction brought about by the laissez faire attitude of a private corporation and therefore THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to clean up...NOT OBAMA'S.
Keep in mind their low balling the difficulties. That well head is a mile deep under water. 90 days would be fast tracking it. If it happens that fast it will be because the Federal government will step in and permanently close the well head. BP aint gonna like that but, fuck them. And here I thought big business did better when the government stayed out of things. I hear all the time how with less regulations, less government, businesses, like the oil business would do much better. Well now is the time to pony up. Show us how they do things better, cheaper and faster than the federal government ever could. This is the result of dependence on oil, period. For decades people have wanted the US to get off the oil tit, but there is just too much money to be made so now the gulf is fucked. There are 200k gallons a day pouring into the gulf and the guy from the oil company that owns this cluster fuck said it could take 90 days to stop the leaking. I guess what pisses me off the most is the oil industry gets indignant when people talk about the polution from their industry UNTIL this happens then they walk around on TV news shows with their thumbs up their asses acting like they don't know what the fuck they are doing.
Actually depending on how far out there you want to go some people believe the levees were intentionally blown in New Orleans to force lower income (read: black) people to suffer or to allow FEMA to take over the City.
or our tolerance for such risks. I'm all for zero incidenct culture. This incident does demonstrate the fallacy of basing safety and environmental considerations on a cost benefit basis.Yep - accidents do happen. Devastating ones.
So maybe it's time to rethink energy & how we source it.
Sorry dude but you just don't know what you're talking about if you think that.
are you telling all of us that the oil companies drill, ship, refine, and transport all of their oil for free?
I don't think so. Gas would be alot cheaper had the dems not stonewalled building a few new refineries decades ago.
and who's drawing the race card now? That's apples to oragnes dude. There's a huge difference in drilling in a sparsely inhabited ecosystem like a deser and a densely inhabited ecosystem like the gulf coast. I mean, for example, you don't have to worry as much about where a oil spill will drift when it spills in a desert. Apples to oranges Yurt.exactly...i'm sure desh has no problem with dark skin foreigners drilling in their lands, taht way when their are accidents like this, its not americans that are directly harmed
it was actually the levees that cause the most damage, and really, all zap is doing is shifting resposibilityh for the aftermath...it doesn't matter what or who caused the catastrophe, both are natural distasters in terms of the environment and havoc wreaked.
its like saying, bush is more responsible for hurricane deaths than deaths by murder because hurricanes are a force of nature, not some person who caused the damage....
They did? Funny I just heard them place a ban on issuing new off shore drilling permits today.the WH just came out today and defended the expansion of oil drilling offshore....

don't you think that we should try to determine exactly what happened first? or do you want to assign blame now and just get it over with? And how much do you think the people responsible for this disaster should pay to protect the livelihoods of those they've ruined through their carelessness?
whatever they are fined, you KNOW it's going to be passed on to the consumer. What should happen then is a special cost increase should be applied to just BP oil products so they are more expensive than others who DIDN'T have an accident, if they are at fault, then people won't buy their product. And should they then be allowed to pass along those costs to the American taxpayer so they don't feel any financial pain for what they've done?
When things made by man to protect man from a natural disastor fail it is not a just a natural disastor its a man made dissastor.
The levees were made by man , the levees failed , man failed.
Nope...sorry.
The aftermath of this disaster is the sole responsibility of the BP corporation.
