‘Stay The Course’ Named Top Catchphrase of 2006

Ok so when talking of gravel I say a lot of gravel was used on the road.....
Hmm how much should I pay the guy for the gravel then ?

You are gettin there Damo, keep on thinking about it.
Get real. You are once again pretending that no descriptive phrase can ever be used by a politician that they must always be precise? Come on. They too are people.

I'll once again give an example. When a D Congressman says, "We have overspent by a ton under this administration..." or "This war has cost us a ton of money and lives for lies"... His meaning is clear. Pretending he must spout numbers is pointless.

Also pretending that talking about a ton of gravel (not a descriptive phrase) and a ton of money (descriptive phrase) are the same thing is just being disingenuous.

You are almost getting there... admit that all your spin in this thread has been an extension of the first "misuse" remark that has slowly eroded under your feet and you'll be better off. There is no reason for all politicians to always spout numbers when describing things. Nor should we force writers to stop turning such phraseology in order to be more correct in word usage. It's simply not realistic and takes much of the beauty of language away...

Not all descriptive phrases are "spin" but all "spin" is descriptive phrases...

America's lone King.. FDR was the best at this game ... "the forgotten man" "New Deal" "Arsenal of Democracy" "Victory Program"

Well the first king anyway Klaatu....
The wannabe second king tries the same game.
I am suprised we don't have a cabinet position of "director of domestic propaganda" .
