Straight Question

Interesting......I didn't even know Jefferson had been there.......

Mathew, Mark, Luke, John ... and Tom.... in his Airplane. Nahhh - that just doesn't make sense, does it? I mean no one would ever believe those guys had an airplane... one of them flew up into the air dead and came back down alive...Now THAT is believable!

You have a point. I should have said that most atheists in the USA seem to be former Christians.

However, my experience is different than yours. The most outspoken atheists I know were all raised as Christians. Then when they realized how outlandish their previous superstitions were they got pissed off and developed an irrational deep-seated hatred for all religious people.

The only hatred I have ever witnessed is by one faith against another, Shi' ites and Sunnis, Catholics and Protestants, Mormons and everyone. Phelps and everyone. Southern Baptists and ...I dunno, do you have Northern Baptists as well?People who have no need of a theistic belief are generally quite tolerant of the unfortunates who have been caught. What some see as hatred is often pity and a frustration born from the hoodwinking of fellow human beings and a genuine concern for the future of the species.

/shrugs......you're the one who believes Jefferson knew the "real" Jesus better than Jesus' contemporaries did.......I for one think Jefferson probably knew Ben Franklin better than he did Jesus...

Here's a nice exercise in substitution.
Every time you hear Christian, think Muslim
Every time you hear Christianity, think Islam
Every time you hear Jesus, think Mohammed
Then make your judgement.
Its a long film, but quite fair and very informative.

Cute cartoon but you are being presumptuous and just plain wrong if you think it applies to me.

FYI, I happen to be an atheist and have been all of my life, probably because I didn't come from a religious family.

There is a difference between being an atheist and being anti-religious. The anti-religious person is an atheist (usually a former religious person) who hates religious people.
