Ukraine’s president urges residents to take up arms, as heavy fighting rages around the capital.

Street fighting has broken out with Russian forces in the capital, Kyiv, which was rocked with intense gunfire and explosions overnight.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenkskyy has pledged to not surrender and continue fighting to defend his country.
The Russian army said it has taken control of the Ukrainian city of Melitopol and targeted the country’s military infrastructure with air and sea-based cruise missiles.
United States says it will sanction Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Meta, the parent company of social media giant Facebook, has barred Russian state media from running ads or monetising on its platform.
UN says more than 50,000 Ukrainians have fled to other countries since the fighting started.

The current ' government ' of Ukraine came to power on the back of a coup to remove Ukraine's pro-Russian president. Do we want to know what role the US played in that coup - or is it so, so much more comfortable to just paint Russia ' bad ' and NATO ' good '.

Zelensky forcibly prevented men from leaving Ukraine, forced them to take up arms, forced women and children to make Molotov bombs in the streets- and then calls them ' civilians ' when they get killed .
He's an asshole. His connections with the Neo-Nazi Azov extremists make him War Crimes material.

My view on Ukraine has been unchanged since the beginning- surrender, pledge never to entertain NATO again, save your people and your cities and then wave the withdrawing Russians goodbye.

I think its a mistake to assume that any of our European allies have armies any better than Putin's........
