Suggestion for SS privatization

Why you ask, because they are less savvy in the stock market! I'm just a layman in that field myself!

Hey LadyT, how unsavy are you in the stock market? Does your finance know you won't make money because you are 'unsavy'? Oh yeah, you're a woman. According to Ken's chart that's another strike against you. A black woman... you are just a victim waiting to happen.

Okay, as it stands now SS is not "wiped out"...and it's good to go for about another 20 years or so until it has to be further subsidized or adjusted.

If it had been privatized, it would indeed have been "wiped out".

Blacks and Latinos, who have larger percentage of poor people as compared to the majority population, and who have been systematically excluded from the Wall St. community for many decades due to bigotry, prejudice and racism, would have been more adversely affected percentage wise had privatization occured.

I have a bit of a problem with being forced to give money to private enterprise.
Esp the vegas style stock market.
Seems like many religious people esp Methodists would object to this plan as it forces them to gamble.

So as a result of past discrimination black and hispancis shouldn't have the option to have personal accounts?

And no one has talked about privatizing social security. I am far from an English major but I know having the option of a personal account is not the same as privatizing a system.

At what point, in your opinion, should blacks and hispanics be allowed more economic freedom or for how much longer do you feel they must be coddled?

Yep, USC knows better than all the creditors that rate the US as pretty much the safest bet for money in the entire world.

We could probably handle another 20 trillion or more in debt and it wouldn't even touch our credit rating.

really...

on what do you base this? that no one will invade us? tell me you do realize something about money.....

So as a result of past discrimination black and hispancis shouldn't have the option to have personal accounts? Did say that? Nope. Did I suggest that? Nope. I'm saying that the poor black and latin folk would NOT be able to join into privatization of their SS...because once it becomes a for-profit venture, SS would not cover everyone.

And no one has talked about privatizing social security. I am far from an English major but I know having the option of a personal account is not the same as privatizing a system. Using the stock market as the source funding for Wall St. would have killed it by now. And with competing firms juggling the investments, guess who would get the shaft first? The poor folk...and since black and latino have statistically higher rates of poverty...well, you get the idea.

At what point, in your opinion, should blacks and hispanics be allowed more economic freedom or for how much longer do you feel they must be coddled?
Coddled? Spare me this knee jerk BS.....defense against cogenital racism and it's after effects is essential. You don't like social programs and anti-defamation/racism rules? Then go kick your like minded buddies in the ass to stop red lining, stop job discrimination, "legacy" preferences in higher education....and when folks who benefit from these practices are no longer "coddled", you won't have to worry about blacks and latinos.
