Super typhoon via GW???

Oh God, there is always some clown that wants to link any event with global warming. If anything those events are getting less not more. This has been the quietest hurricane season in decades. As for being the worst ever, I guess Cyclone Nargis has been forgotten already.

Yawm..... more mis-information.

Cyclone Nargis speed? MAX(for 3 minutes) 105 MPH, gusts 135 MPH(sustained for 1 minute).

Typhoon Haiyan? Max speed 195 MPH gusts of 235MPH!! Almost DOUBLE the power!

I'm not doin your work. Still waiting for the link.

I care more about their health then their paychecks. Switching t nuclear power would not jeopardize their jobs.

Wait a sec - you claim to care about the future generations, but then advocate for nuclear power? We have no long-term strategy for disposing of nuclear waste. None whatsoever.

Yes. The Russians have discovered a way to recycle most nuclear waste. It's more controllable then pumping tons of toxins into our breathing air.

Who's fault is that? The best way to dispose of nuclear waste is to turn it into rapidly-decaying isotopes that decay to produce stable isotopes which are not radioactive. In that way, the waste could be reduced to only tiny fractions of the original radioactivity in a hundred years or so (depending on what the longest lived isotope you would have to deal with would be). However, doing that requires certain kinds of nuclear reactors that are no longer being actively considered in the US. You are also preventing the opening of somewhere like Yucca Mountain and vitrification of nuclear waste. Of course the absolute best way to get rid of the waste is to dump it into somewhere like the Marianas Trench or a volcano but that won't happen.

It has already been pointed out that some people can't tell the difference between kilometres and miles. I suspect we won't be from you again on the subject.

Before the typhoon made landfall, some international forecasters were estimating wind speeds at 195 m.p.h., which would have meant the storm would hit with winds among the strongest recorded. But local forecasters later disputed those estimates. “Some of the reports of wind speeds were exaggerated,” Mr. Paciente said.

The Philippine weather agency measured winds on the eastern edge of the country at about 150 m.p.h., he said, with some tracking stations recording speeds as low as 100 m.p.h.

BBC now reporting reduced wind speeds that would make it a Cat4 storm:
Typhoon Haiyan – one of the most powerful storms on record to make landfall – swept through six central Philippine islands on Friday.
It brought sustained winds of 235km/h (147mph), with gusts of 275 km/h (170 mph), with waves as high as 15m (45ft), bringing up to 400mm (15.75 inches) of rain in places.

The Global Cyclone Energy is currently at 74%, is this due to Global Warming?

It is phenomenal. Climate campaigners like [John] Vidal in Guardian keeps arguing that the terrible typhoon Haiyan shows we need to do more about global warming.

Yet, even *after* Haiyan, the Accumulated Cyclone Energy of all cyclones in the Western North Pacific is below normal (99%, http://models.weatherbell.com/tropical.php). The global ACE is at 74%.
As you can see in the graph below (updated Nov 10), both Northern Hemisphere ACE and global ACE are at the lowest since the 1970s.

Do you actually read anything in a thread? The arseholes that assigned it as the worst in history couldn't even fucking tell the difference between kilometres and miles.

Could we use Wales, as a storage facility??

Regardless of these hypothetical questions? The major FACTS are that we have had a HUGE increase in natural disasters and any scientist will tell you that the unprecedented rate and strength of these natural disasters are related to UNNATURALLY HIGH contrasting weather fronts. Well above average Global temperatures.

Now if it is indeed a "earth cycle"? The only thing that could cause that was another supernova star or our actual sun heating up. Which is the worst news possible.

why don't you cite the evidence? Oh, that's right! the evidence shows the correlation doesn't hold true.

OH OH!! Here come the oil tycoons and their cabal of mis-information spinners!!! I know the difference between miles and KM. THE NEWS said it was clocked AT 235 MILES an hour!!! Making it well above the category 5 hurricane which I think is 157MPH!! If they are now saying it was "exaggerated" Maybe Nargis was "exaggerated also. Still Nargis was clocked at 135MPH MAX. Therefore Haiyan was still more powerful every way you slice it!

But nice try!!! You have money tied in oil stocks don't you! Only an idiot cannot see what is happening on the earth.

Did you hear about the storm that hit the USA recently? Hopefully it hit mostly global warmer deniers homes!!!

Here lets compare video footage of the two storms.

Nargis?

And Haiyan

Note they are saying gusts of 235MPH!!!

NO COMPARISSON!! DID it hit 235MPH? Not sure, but it is definitely the stronger of the two and the strongest storm on record. You lose. NEXT!

Hide Nader your bed Nutjob
The us will be the worlds top oil producer next year!

Why haven't you stopped using gas powered cars!
You don't really believe
