The more taxes, the higher the tax rate, the more people are going to think up ways to make money; ie: create jobs. Before someone comes along with the asinine argument that if taxes were 100% there would be plenty of jobs obviously people have to realize a profit.
I don't think the argument is asinine in the least.

In fact, I think it makes total sense. It's the same argument I use when people tell me that cutting taxes increases revenues. I say to them "Well then, why not cut taxes to 0%? We'd get the maximum possible revenue!"

Why would people work if they didn't receive money?

The part of your reasoning that I question is the idea that increasing taxes will create jobs. It can't be true, any more than it can be true that cutting taxes to 0% will increase revenues. And the reason why it can't be true is exactly the argument that you called asinine; namely, that if increasing taxes will create jobs, why not increase taxes to 100%?

I said, "obviously people have to realize a profit", which they would not do if the taxes were 100%.

The reason increasing taxes creates jobs is because people want money and taxing what they they already receive means they will be receiving less money and will want more so they will think up ways to get it which involves creating jobs.

This presumes that jobs can be created as acts of will. That if someone just tries hard enough a new job can be created. That the only thing standing between our country and full employment is the laziness of rich people.

Sooooo then using your logic 99% tax rate would create the most jobs. Precisely the opposite of what you have imagined is the case.

It depends on the work involved. Let's say someone told you that you could run a business which netted $10,000/mth, involved one hour of your time once a month and you had to pay 90% tax on the net revenue. You'd earn $1000.00 for your hour's work. Would you decline if it was a legitimate offer?

Then why the fuck should we listen to the miser?

I doubt if he cares whether or not a 20-something Reservist non-com listens to him.

People who care about Americas' future listen to him. He's Americas' second richest man.

Why do individuals start businesses? It's usually because they want more money. I don't think someone who is wealthy and content starts a business because they're bored.

They want more money to keep for themselves as opposed to pay in taxes. More money to be made, the more likely they are to start the business

That explains why jobs are plentiful after 10 years of tax cuts, I guess,

lets not use any fact; like 10 plus million immagrants undocumented taking jobs from your boys at the low end. Who's unemployed? Duh
If there were 10 million illegal bankers the immagration problem would have been solved yestarday.
Must suck to be poor legion troll.

???? No, it wouldnt matter at all what the work involved was. 99% tax rate would render starting any business into a futile effort to get "more money"

You posed an extreme scenario and I gave you an example. Why wouldn't someone work one hour a month for $10,000 even if they had to pay 90% tax. They'd still earn $1,000 for the hour. If they earned $100,000 for the hour they could pay 99% tax and earn $1,000. As I said earlier it depends on the job.
