RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block Tuesday's scheduled execution of sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad.

The Court did not comment Monday on why it refused to consider his appeal.

Muhammad is scheduled to die by injection at a Virginia prison for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree in 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Muhammad and his teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, were also suspected of fatal shootings in other states, including Louisiana, Alabama and Arizona. Malvo is serving a life sentence.

Muhammad still has a clemency petition before Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine.

Muhammad's attorney, Jonathan Sheldon, says "Virginia will execute a severely mentally ill man who also suffered from Gulf War Syndrome the day before Veterans Day."

I can think of no better tribute to our Vets. :good4u:

While I'm no fan of the death penalty, I certainly won't mourn his passing.

I don't think many will mourn his passing. I don't, however, think an execution (especially if there is a possibility he is suffering from Gulf War Syndrome or PTSD) is any sort of tribute to veterans.

Only inferior lesser beings support executions. All those that support executions need to be dragged out into the street and shot.

listen idiots, it doesn't matter if you served our country. if you kill people you get executed like everyone else

I don't mourn him. It's very difficult to mourn the passing of someone you don't want to know. But unlike grind, it really doesn't make me happy. It's mostly limited to a vague sense of unease. I just really dislike that it's actually happening.

The only thing that could save him is if Tim Kaine decides to give some sort of general clemency tomorrow as one of his last acts in office. Since he promised in the campaign to carry out all death sentences, it would hurt him in any future political endeavors, which is why I don't think he's going to do it.

I CAN'T WAIT I CAN'T WAIT I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I can't wait to read his last words, to hear about the execution, to see what he had for a last meal. THIS IS SO FUN.

I don't think anyone is arguing whether he should be executed. It was the comment about it being a tribute to veterans that was being discussed.

We are the only first world nation that kills our citizens as a form of punishment. It is a scar on the face of our form of government to be on the same list with countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia etc.
