Crime exists in all cities. The federal gov't has no role typically in dealing with street level crime which is the domain of the States and the cities.

Once upon a time, not long ago it was the RIght who most feared a big over arching gov't using Federal power and a national police force in the American streets and that is because they saw gov't of both stripes mostly pushing an agenda of progress and expanding rights for all people and the right did not want to be forced to in to that.

It is awesome seeing magats now embrace military troops in the streets and i when President Lefty takes over next and declares 'Gun crime a National emergency' and orders the military into the street to seize guns i look forward to the magats agreeing that is ok to do.

It means when Congress passed a law that TikTok is banned and must go and the SC reviews and says TikTok is banned and most go...

...then the POTUS and DOJ must execute that law and make TikTok go or start closing them down and prosecuting offenders.

The Self-rule Act allows them to do some functions you would think of as "city" functions, but not all of them. The Federal Government still has control of its budget, judges appointed, and reviews any ordinances passed by the D.C. Council, approving it before it can become law.

This is not a city in the way we think of cities, they do not get to run their own government.
