Of the industrial nations, America is the only one that does not have universal health care.
And we have the best healthcare in the world.
We are no 12 in the world health care ratings.
No. We have the best healthcare in the world. People come from all over the world to use it.
Our system costs double and gives worse results.
Double of what? Void argument fallacy.
Universal healthcare will allow people to get health monitoring.
No. Makes no difference.
Millions of Americans have no healthcare at all.
All Americans have access to healthcare.
This system enriches hospitals and bureaucrats.
It does not pay bureaucrats. Hospitals are not even required for most treatments and services.
Hospitals use the same economic policies that businesses do.
Not quite. Hospitals are funded through government.
They want barely enough beds and doctors to keep up.
And this is the result.
That maximizes profits
What is wrong with profit? It's the lifeblood of any business.
So when we get a pandemic, we cannot handle it.
Fake News.
Not enough medical staff and beds.
Fake News.
There is little to recommend our system.
There is plenty. Most of the new treatments, procedures, and equipment were developed in the United States.
When Taiwan was going to institute healthcare, they visited the US. They said they wanted to see what not to do.
Fake News.

Canadian 'universal' healthcare is notoriously horrible and expensive (not paid by income taxes).

The Canadian and American Governments both spend the same amount per capita on healthcare. The Canadian Government covers everyone with that, and the American Government covers some Americans most of the way. In other words, the American system is literally several times more expensive.

The Canadian system just has better outcomes. There is no way around that.

I would say it is because of some massive cultural difference, but Canada has the closest culture to ours of any nation. It is a failure in our system. I do not think we need a Canadian style system, but we need a system where we pay for our healthcare, rather than trying to figure out a way to skip on the bill.

The Canadian and American Governments both spend the same amount per capita on healthcare.
And both get very little for it.
The Canadian Government covers everyone with that,
With lousy healthcare, sure.
and the American Government covers some Americans most of the way.
No. Just some, like the military or federal employees.
In other words, the American system is literally several times more expensive.
Nope. People simply buy their healthcare when they need or want it, not at any other time.
The Canadian system just has better outcomes. There is no way around that.
Lousy healthcare is not a better outcome.

Irrelevant.
It is a failure in our system.
Our system hasn't failed.
I do not think we need a Canadian style system,
Yes you do.
but we need a system where we pay for our healthcare,
We do pay for our healthcare, if and when we need or want it.
rather than trying to figure out a way to skip on the bill.
Is that what you do? Skip out on paying the bill?

How can you know so little? America has a million people a year leave America to get healthcare. https://www.medicaltourismco.com/ Which is it, are you ignorant or lying?

A meaningless claim that ignores the TRUE costs of their system.

The Canadian system just has better outcomes. There is no way around that.

This is nothing more than an OPINION lacking factual reality. Yes, it is great if you like long wait times for even the most basic of care, being placed on wait lists because of a lack of specialists and paying massive taxes. :palm:

It is a failure in our system.

This is nothing more than a talking point. Define the failure.

....but we need a system where we pay for our healthcare, rather than trying to figure out a way to skip on the bill.

This is a talking point based on fabricating a lie. Where do you come up with this bullshit? :palm:

You're an idiot and didn't comprehend your own link. Canadians pay taxes at much lower income levels and then there are the HST levied on everything. Their cost of goods and fuel are far higher than those of the US.

It is better for you to remain silent and be thought a moron than to post and remove all doubts. Moron.
:palm:

I'm only interested in helping people with lower income levels. If you can afford healthcare in the US and still live comfortably, then you should maybe check your privilege for the sake of this discussion.

what is 'universal healthcare'?????

Hm. When a citizen in nation that's more developed than the US need medical care, he or she can get it and not worry about paying a single cent. They won't worry about going into crippling debt for life, nor do they have to worry about medical debt crashing their credit score. Also, their healthcare isn't tied to their job.

so you want to take an entire field of professional occupations and force them to provide their hard earned educations and skills in to a low wage platform so people who didn't bother to educate themselves or better their skill sets can get free healthcare?
