Tea Baggers Show True Colors: Everything but a Goose Step

How truly pathetic it is when House Minority Leader John Boehner of what was once called The Party of Lincoln addresses an enraged Tea Bag protest group at our nations Capitol.

As stated various times about the dangerous roots of the Tea Baggers and their historical antecedents, they showed their true colors in a way that would have caused Abraham Lincoln to feel a sharp wave of revulsion.

Lincoln had the Know Nothings to deal with in his day. The Tea Baggers are the successors of the Know Nothings as well as the Liberty League, the McCarthy-Nixon smear brigade, and the John Birch Society.

At the 1964 Republican Convention in San Francisco the wild-eyed John Birch Society element was so strong that African American delegates were terrorized on the floor of the Cow Palace while one was actually set ablaze.

This was also the convention in which NBC commentator John Chancellor was arrested on the floor, delivering a famous signoff line of This is John Chancellor somewhere in custody.

There were those signs at Palin rallies as well as subsequent Tea Bag convocations with pictures of Obama bearing a simian look to give the impression that he is a monkey. What is that but blatant racism?

The only thing missing yesterday with the Tea Bag hordes, those extolling the agenda of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, was the execution of some nifty goose steps. They otherwise closely resembled storm troopers of thirties Germany.

Not only were there reported incidents of spitting when Democratic legislators sought to jostle past the angry hordes and into the Capitol.

There were those ugly evocations of the N-word. Congressman John Lewis, an Atlanta foot soldier in the ranks of Martin Luther King, stated sadly that the frightening exhibition harkened back to an earlier period of bigotry.

When Barney Frank moved past the throng to enter the Capitol a flurry of homophobic epithets were unleashed at him.

We know what the Glenn Becks and other apologists say when this type of behavior is criticized as sick bigotry. The point is made that this is just a tiny element of a much larger picture, people concerned about the fact that government has failed them that seeks answers.

Walk down the street of any major American city, be it Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Seattle and what does one see? The diversity of the culture is seen with individuals who are Anglo, African American, Hispanic and Asian.

What does one see at Tea Bag demonstrations? Angry white faces. The signs in evidence so often represent what these same individuals classified as treason in the face of so much less from those protesting the policies of Republicans such as George W. Bush.

When President Obama sat in his limousine that took him from the White House to the Capitol yesterday those same individuals so quick to shout traitor at anyone opposing Bush delivered angry and hateful gestures toward him.

Remember when it was impermissible to oppose George W. Bush on anything in the aftermath of 9/11? When his irresponsible tax cut legislation was opposed the apologists exclaimed, You cannot oppose Bush! We are at war!

There is a cultural war occurring right now between the forces of tolerance and those of bigotry. That bigotry has been notably manifested in the Tea Bag movement. Demagogic commentators like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are delighted to continue stirring up a fuming kettle of hate.

For those of you who say that these are just a few warped bigots who will quickly play themselves out, I refer you to William L. Shirers classic work The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.

In the days when Adolf Hitler was beginning to display muscle with the masses numerous German intellectuals laughed him off as an absurd little clown with a mustache.

Surely he could never prevail.

So they said and look what followed.

Yes, it could definitely happen here.

What absolute nonsense....thats the most bullshit I"ve seen in one post in years....
 and then the pic just shows what a hypocrite you are....

I saw the racist cracker spitting on the black congressman and belittling the guy with parkinsons. Repubs would do well to not box themselves in as just teabaggers.

seriously, take a step back. the babykiller nonsense will box you into even less seats in 2010. Your base loves it, the rest of the country thinks you've gone bat shit crazy.

Even fox is running the pro science of cannabis, get behind that as a freedom issue and Obama being afraid to do it.
You are never overturning abortion rights, blacks voting rights, or HC of any fashion.

you see, that's my point.....so long as there are idiots on the left that think we are trying to end black voting rights or overturn "health care", merely calling someone who wants to make it easier to kill babies a babykiller isn't going to register on the seismograph of sillyness......

80% think the babykiller comments are as bad as saying your want to take the black vote back.

Guys like PiMP and Dixie just don't get it. I keep asking them "Why do you think guys like you and I left the Repbulican party?" and, as you so aptly put it, it's because they have gone bat shit crazy. The geniunely think that they don't need us or anyone else who doesn't adhere to their narrow idelogical viewss and their complete insistence on lock step intellectual conformity.

At the present I'd vote for just about any political party over the party I was a member of for over 20 years!

Why did the Republicans decided to become the party of right wing extremist and GED trailor trash?

So the thirteen state AG's filing suits to overturn health care are figments of our imaginations?

Where is the tape?

saw it on TV last night, they were throwing dollars at him telling him to get a job no freebees.

I do however think the moderates will come to there senses and shift strategy in a few weeks.

I need me some gridlock, these dems will change the definition of rich once they get on a roll.

1) It was not 'they'... it was one guy that first handed him a dollar, then tossed a second one towards him.... while stating.... 'I will decide when to give my money to others'.

2) the guy with Parkinson's walks to the opposing side's side of the street and sits down right in front of them. He is the one who initiated the confrontation.

3) The independents and moderates are NOT on the side of the Dems right now (on this issue). They are going to pay in November for cramming this piece of shit down our throats. When the number of uninsured doesn't go down by 2012 and the COSTS of health care continue to rise, the Dems will pay again in that election.

It was several yelling at him, freak I really think moderates like you and Damo will coold down in a few weeks. this can only backfire.

I think teabaggers like the guys in the vidoe will flare up. They look like middle age working class guys pissed about high taxes which I understand. Moderate will college educations/professionals like Damo, freak and cawacko will hope for better strategy than slime.

watch the video toppy.... BOTH sides were yelling at each other. Again, the guy with Parkinsons went and deliberately sat down right in front of the other side. He is the one that initiated the direct confrontation. Not them.

They were shouting at him because that is the only way they were going to be heard amongst all the other people shouting at each other. Just because this guy had a sign stating he got Parkinsons, doesn't mean they have to treat him differently with regards to voicing their opinion. The left wants to hype this as some great affront because the guy has Parkinsons. They weren't mocking his Parkinsons, they were voicing their opposition to the health care bill.

While I agree that the pissing matches like the one in the video are really not very effective for either side, you continue to point to the idiots on the right and saying it will backfire, while ignoring the idiots on the left who are doing the same damn thing.

Anyone else notice the SEIU thugs were present? I can see why they are happy, their bought and paid for politicians protected their plans from the taxation.
