If you're required to file...you're a taxpayer.

I'm seriously dumb but he's making me look damn near genius. I suck at math but if you are breaking down taxpayers taxpayers are those who pay taxes or are registered to pay taxes. Obviously not all people registered to pay taxes actually have to pay them hence the huge disparity between the top 50% and bottom 50% in terms of percentages paid. Pretty simple.

Yepper what I was getting at, eventually ;)

Alright Bravo now you've got me confused. I guess I thought I was agreeing with you on this, how you broke it down. Did I write something different?

I don't disagree with any of your post....so why pick on me to quote...???

"that is all wrong. No where near 100% pay taxes. Somewhere less than 50% of people over 18 support this entire country as far as personal income taxes go."
"Many students over 18 from the above 50% families pay no taxes..................Irrelevant...
Many retirees pay very little income taxes.
Many spouses not working pay no taxes."........................................................Irrelevant...

No one claimed 100% of the people pay taxes and being over 18 years old is totally irrelevant to what statistics were posted....

We talking "taxpayers" not peoples ages, etc.....

So lets keep up...

Sorry dude, I have citizen on ignore so I saw his quote through your post thus I posted through you. I was agreeing with you on your taxpayer breakdown.

It's counter-intuitive, but one not necessarily need to "pay" taxes to be a taxpayer. You could very easily work a for a year at the bottom bracket and receive all of your payroll taxes back when you get your refund. You are a "taxpayer" for the purposes of the above graph, even though you receive all of your paid taxes back.

No problem...I was just wondering how we got our wires crossed.....

I've done the same thing....:clink:

Exactly. Hence the disparity between the top 50% and the lower 50%.

Froim the vids I saw of the 9.12 teabaggers they did not appear very compassionate, just anger and hate filled. And not keeping it in either.

and the more you raving liberal idiots continue to disparage their anger by sexual innuendo and remarks, the angrier they are going to get.

Or perhaps this is your esteemed self:

The math skills match yours.

that math adds up you dolt. Top 50% pay 97%, bottom 50% pay 3%... that equals 100%

lol you fucking dumbass. That sign is correct. Let me spell it out for you.

Top 1% pay 39% of all income tax (actually closer to 40).
Top 50% pay 97% of all income tax.
Bottom 50% pay 3% of all income tax.

97%+3%= 100%

Hilarious. DNC criticizes someone's math and can't even read.

The percentage of income taxes paid by each quintile, decile or what have you is a disingenuous argument, because income taxes are only one of the taxes paid by citizens. You have to look at the total tax burden, including payroll taxes, sales taxes, gasoline, property, excise, and any other taxes, like virginia'ds personal property tax on autos. AND thern you have to compare the total tax burdens of each group to its share of the total national income and to each group's share of the total national wealth under its control. Do the research and the math and I believe you'll find that the top 1% is paying less than their fair share of the tax burden. After all, they aren't taxed at the same rate for capital gains income as are those whose income is solely derived from their labor. In fact, t he Bush tax cuts favored the top because they were almost exclsively tsrgeted at unearned income.

BTW if you do the math and conclude anything except that the top 1% isn't paying their fair share, I have to question your ability at math or your abiiity to conduct objective research, because a truly fair system of taxation is transfer neutral, in that it neither transfers wealth down from the wealthy to the less well-off, except as required to raise those in abject poverty to a minmum standard of living (which, by the way, is neither bleeding heart liberalism nor socilaism, butt is enlightened self interest..feeding and housing the poor outright is cheaper than any alternative). Back to a fair tax system being transfer neutral: it should most certainly not result in a transfer of wealth UP the ladder TO the already wealthy, and that's what's happening in the US today. So anybody complaining about how much the rich have to pay in taxes is either rich, or a fool, or a rich fool. Fact:relatively few of the top 1% got there by dint of hard work or brilliance. Most were born wealthy, and the idea that they should be accorded a break in paying their fair share of taxces just because they slid out of a rich woman's vagina is not only unAmerian, it's stupid. They don't create jobs. Small business owners do, and i hate to break this to the righties, but small business owners are NOT in the top 1%. LThatidiot Joe the Plumber's moronic question to Obama during the presidential campaign didn't show a problem with Obama's proposed tax system. It showed that Joe, like every rightie who thinks that small business owners are in the top 1%, doesn't know the difference between gross receipts and net taxable income, and apparently neither do McCain and Palin, or any of the GOP congressional leadeership.

.

1) DNC's claim was that the math did not add up. So for others to dispute his idiocy is most certainly a valid argument.

2) No one suggested that the income tax was the only tax. But in terms of income tax, it is most certainly skewed in favor of the lower 50%.

3) The top 1% paying 39% of income taxes isn't fair in your opinion? What should they pay? 100%? As for the total tax burden, please, demonstrate your point with data rather than asking everyone else to do your work for you. If you want to prove your point, YOU are the one required to present the data to support it.

and what does the troll do....runs away and posts a video...that has nothing to do with his being so laughably wrong in this thread...

can't admit you screwed up can you.....like that thread you lied a conservative didn't vote for obama because he is black....only to find out that it was actually a hillary voter...your failures are
